Fall 1975 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the Fall 1975 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The event was held at three courses at the Walt Disney World Resort: Magnolia Golf Course, Palm Golf Course, and Cypress Creek Golf Club. 375 players made the finals. Tournament summary Two significant international players were in the event. They were Dale Hayes, "a highly regarded players from Pretoria, South Africa," and England's Maurice Bembridge. Hayes opened, well with a 69 (−3), to put himself two back of the lead. Bembridge, however, struggled in the first round with a 76 (+4). Overall, Bobby Stroble and Andy Bean held the joint first round lead at 67 (−5). After the second round, it was Jerry Pate and Sandy Galbraith that were tied for the lead at 139 (−5). Steve Veriato
Steve Veriato (born May 6, 1946) is an American professional golfer. He played on the PGA Tour, Asia Golf Circuit, Canadian Tour, and Champions Tour where he won once. Veriato was born in Hilo, Hawaii. He played college golf at Texas A&M University and turned professional in 1973. Veriato played on the PGA Tour from 1976 to 1980. His best ever finish was a solo 2nd at the 1977 Atlanta Classic. He was then primarily a club pro in Texas for 14 years. Concurrent with his experience as a club pro, however, he also occasionally played on some minor international circuits. He played the Canadian Tour in 1988 and 1989 and the Asia Golf Circuit in 1975, 1988, 1989, and 1995. He joined the Senior PGA Tour after he turned 50. In 2001, he won the 2001 Novell Utah Showdown. Gar Hamilton
Gars are members of the family Lepisosteidae, which are the only surviving members of the Ginglymodi, an ancient holosteian group of ray-finned fish, which first appeared during the Triassic, over 240 million years ago. Gars comprise seven living species of fish in two genera that inhabit fresh, brackish, and occasionally marine waters of eastern North America, Central America and Cuba in the Caribbean, though extinct members of the family were more widespread. The Pacific Coast Amateur is an annual amateur golf tournament. It has been played since 1967 and is organized by the Pacific Coast Golf Association. Mark Pfeil
Mark Pfeil (born July 18, 1951) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Pfeil was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He attended the University of Southern California, where he was a two-time All-American as a member of the golf team — third-team in 1973 and second-team in 1974. While playing for the Trojans, Pfeil and his teammates, including future Masters champion Craig Stadler, lead them to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championship in 1973, and a fourth-place finish a year later. Pfeil was a member of the 1973 Walker Cup team. He turned professional in 1974 and joined the PGA Tour in 1976. Pfeil had 12 top-10 finishes including a win at the 1980 Tallahassee Open during his PGA Tour career. His best finish in a major was T-22 at the 1982 PGA Championship. Tom McGinnis
Thomas "Tom or Tommy" McGinnis (November 27, 1947 – June 6, 2019) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. McGinnis was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee and was a member of the golf team from 1967–1969. He turned professional in 1969. McGinnis had 49 starts in PGA Tour events during his regular career; he earned and lost his Tour card 3 times. His best finish in a PGA Tour event was a solo 5th at the 1976 Ed McMahon-Jaycees Quad Cities Open. His best finish in a major championship was 55th at the 1980 U.S. Open. He earned his living primarily as a club and teaching pro at various clubs in Tennessee, New York and Florida. McGinnis has eight top-10 finishes in Champions tour events including one win. John Harris (golfer)
John Richard Harris (born June 13, 1952) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Early life and amateur career Harris was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in Roseau, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota where he distinguished himself in both golf and hockey. Harris was the second-leading scorer on his 1974 hockey team that went on to win the national championship. In addition, his brother Robbie was a talented hockey player and played for the U.S. ice hockey team at the 1976 Winter Olympics. In the spring of 1974, Harris won the individual Big Ten championship in golf. In the summer, he also won the 1974 Minnesota State Amateur. South African Tour
The Sunshine Tour is a men's professional golf tour based in Southern and East Africa. For much of its early history it was known either as the South African Tour or Sunshine Circuit; through sponsorship deals, it has also been known as the Vodacom Tour and the FNB Tour. For the 2000–01 season the tour rebranded itself as the ''Sunshine Tour'' in an attempt to broaden its appeal. A large majority of the tour events are still staged in South Africa. Don Pooley
Sheldon George "Don" Pooley, Jr. (born August 27, 1951) is an American professional golfer who has won tournaments on both the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Pooley was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He grew up in Riverside, California. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he was a member of the golf team. He turned pro in 1973. Despite winning the 1980 B.C. Open and the 1987 Memorial Tournament, Pooley is probably best remembered in his PGA Tour career for his dramatic million-dollar hole-in-one at the 1987 Bay Hill Classic. Pooley received $500,000 as did Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women in Orlando, Florida because of this once-in-a-lifetime shot. The PGA Tour of Australasia, currently known for sponsorship reasons as the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia, is a professional golf tour for men, owned and operated by the PGA of Australia. Official events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. The tour is recognised as being founded in 1973 when the PGA of Australia instituted an Order of Merit.
