Falk Richter (born 23 October 1969) is a German author, theater director, and playwright. Early life and education Falk Richter was born on 23 October 1969 in Hamburg. His father was a merchant. He studied linguistics, philosophy and theatre director, theatre directing at the University of Hamburg, graduating with a production of ''Silikon'' at the Kampnagel theatre in 1996. Career Falk Richter is the author of theater and audio plays, translator and theatre director who has worked for numerous theatres, including Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Deutsche Schauspielhaus, National Theatre (Oslo), National Theatre Oslo, the Hamburg State Opera, the Wiener Staatsoper, and the Bayerische Staatsoper. Elfriede Jelinek
Elfriede Jelinek (; born 20 October 1946) is an Austrian playwright and novelist. She is one of the most decorated authors writing in German today and was awarded the 2004 Nobel Prize in Literature for her "musical flow of voices and counter-voices in novels and plays that, with extraordinary linguistic zeal, reveal the absurdity of society's clichés and their subjugating power". Next to Peter Handke and Botho Strauss she is considered to be the most important living playwright of the German language. The Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz (Theatre on Lehniner Square) is a famous theatre in the Wilmersdorf district of Berlin, located on the Kurfürstendamm boulevard. It is a conversion of the ''Universum'' cinema, built according to plans designed by Erich Mendelsohn in 1928. History The cinema was the centrepiece of the wider ''WOGA'' housing complex, designed by Mendelsohn in a New Objectivity-styled urban development ensemble, with a shopping walkway, apartment blocks, lawns, and a tennis court in the back. It possibly was the first Modernist cinema built in the world, as opposed to the Moorish, Egyptian, and baroque styles that predominated. Mendelsohn wrote a short text on his cinema, declaring 'no Baroque palaces for Buster Keaton'. The cinema would become very influential on Streamline Moderne cinema design in the 1930s. Friedrich Luft (24 August 1911 – 24 December 1990) was a German feuilletonist and theater critic. Life Born in Friedenau, Luft was the son of a German student councilor and a Scottish mother. His older brother was the German-American physiologist and university teacher . Luft grew up in the Friedenauer ''Kaiserallee 74'' and attended the nearby at Maybachplatz (today: ). He studied German, English and History in Berlin and at the University of Königsberg. He listened with great interest to Max Herrmann lectures on theatre history. She had flute, guitar, and piano lessons as a child, later playing the flute in a student orchestra and keyboards in a blues band. Festival D'Avignon
The ''Festival d'Avignon'', or Avignon Festival, is an annual arts festival held in the French city of Avignon every summer in July in the courtyard of the Palais des Papes as well as in other locations of the city. Founded in 1947 by Jean Vilar, it is the oldest existent festival in France. Alongside the official festival, the "In" one, a number of shows are presented in Avignon at the same time of the year and are known as the "Off".
