Television In Finland
Television was introduced in Finland in 1955. Color television started in 1969 and was introduced gradually, with most programs in color by the late 1970s. All terrestrial analogue stations stopped broadcasting on 1 September 2007 after the introduction of digital television; cable providers were allowed to continue analog broadcasting in their networks until 1 March 2008. Typically, foreign-language content is subtitled, retaining the original language soundtrack. This includes interview responses in news or magazine programmes not given in the main language of that programme. Foreign programming intended for children is, however, usually dubbed into one of the national languages. Regardless of the intended audience or original language, many shows receive a Finnish and/or Swedish title which is used in programme schedules. Eija Annikki Vilpas (born 17 July 1957 in Tuusula, Finland) is a Finnish actress. She is known of her roles in several Finnish comedy series, for example ''Fakta homma'' and '' Hynttyyt yhteen''. The focal point of her career lies in stage acting: Vilpas has worked in the Helsinki City Theatre since 1988. She has also done voice-over work for Finnish film dubs. Martti Juhani Suosalo (born 19 July 1962) is a Finnish actor and singer. Suosalo was born in Oulu, and began his career in 1986 with an appearance in a TV series. He began to work as a regular actor on Finnish television but also appeared in several films in the early 1990s such as the 1994 film '' Aapo'' alongside actors such as Taisto Reimaluoto, Ulla Koivuranta and Kai Lehtinen. Timo Torikka (born 1 February 1958, in Kerava) is a Finnish actor. He graduated from the Theatre Academy of Finland in 1982, after which he has worked both on the stage and onscreen. One of his most well known parts is the role of Pentti Saari in Pekka Parikka's film '' Talvisota'' (''The Winter War'', 1989). He also acted in two episodes of French television series ''Maigret'' with Bruno Cremer. Torikka was the writer and director of the 1993 television series ''Hobitit'', an adaptation of J. R. R.
