Faicchio
Faicchio is a small village in the Province of Benevento in the Italian region Campania, located about 50 km northeast of Naples and about 30 km northwest of Benevento. Faicchio borders the following villages: Cusano Mutri, Gioia Sannitica, Puglianello, Ruviano, San Lorenzello, San Salvatore Telesino. Faicchio is located a few km from the famous Terme di Telese. History Going back to the 15th century and subsequently reconstructed Castelo Ducale it is situated in Piazza Roma, in the centre of the town, The Lombards (7th – 10th century AD) held the castle. After the Lombard rule the Normans ruled Faicchio and its surroundings. At that time the Castle was built or rebuilt in 1135 by Sanframondo, new masters of the place. Clotilde Micheli
Clotilde Micheli (11 September 1849 - 24 March 1911) was an Italian people, Italian Roman Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Nun, professed religious who established the order known as the Sisters of Angels; she assumed the new name of "Maria Serafina of the Sacred Heart" upon the order's foundation and her profession into it. She had once before been part of a religious order in which she received the name of "Maria Annunziata" but discarded it when she left their ranks. Micheli was beatified in Benevento in 2011 after Pope Benedict XVI granted approval for her beatification to take place. Luigi Palmieri
Luigi Palmieri (22 April 1807 – 9 September 1896) was an Italian physicist and meteorologist. He was famous for his scientific studies of the eruptions of Mount Vesuvius, for his researches on earthquakes and meteorological phenomena and for improving the seismograph of the time. Biography Palmieri was born in Faicchio, Benevento, Italy and died in Naples, Italy at the age of 89. Palmieri received a degree in physics from the University of Naples. In 1845, he was made Professor of Physics at the Royal Naval School in Naples and in 1847 was appointed as Chair of Physics at the university. In 1848, he began working at the Vesuvius Observatory and in 1854 was appointed as Director of the Observatory. Using an electromagnetic seismometer for the detection and measurement of ground tremors, Palmieri was able to detect very slight movements in trying to predict volcanic eruptions.
