The FPSO ''John Evans Atta Mills'' is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It operates in the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme Oil Field off the western coast of Ghana. She is named after a former president of Ghana the late John Evans Atta Mills. History The construction of the FPSO became necessary as the expansion of the Tweneboa-Ntomme-Enyenra (TEN) offshore oil fields demanded that another vessel be added to the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah. The vessel was built by Mitsui Ocean Development & Engineering Company Inc. (MODEC) in Singapore and named by the Lordina Mahama, in September 2015. The vessel arrived on Ghanaian waters on March 2, 2016 and started processing of crude oil in August 2016. Floating Production Storage And Offloading
A floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit is a floating vessel used by the offshore oil and gas industry for the production and processing of hydrocarbons, and for the storage of oil. An FPSO vessel is designed to receive hydrocarbons produced by itself or from nearby platforms or subsea template, process them, and store oil until it can be offloaded onto a tanker or, less frequently, transported through a pipeline. FPSOs are preferred in frontier offshore regions as they are easy to install, and do not require a local pipeline infrastructure to export oil. FPSOs can be a conversion of an oil tanker (like the '' Seawise Giant'') or can be a vessel built specially for the application. Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme Oil Field
The Tweneboa Enyenra Ntomme Oil Field is an oil field within Ghana's territorial waters and the country's second major oil field after the Jubilee Oil Field. It is popularly known as the TEN oil field, an acronym formed from the three drilling fields that it comprises. Coincidentally, the exploration for oil in the basin also started with ten pre-first oil wells. History The Tweneboa Enyenra Ntomme Oil Field was discovered in 2009 by Tullow Oil. It is in the Deepwater Tano license, which covers an area of more than and lies around west of Tullow's Jubilee Oil Field. John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills (21 July 1944 – 24 July 2012) was a Ghanaian politician and legal scholar who served as President of Ghana from 2009 until his death in 2012. He was inaugurated on 7 January 2009, having defeated the governing party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008 election. He was previously the Vice-President from 1997 to 2001 under President Jerry Rawlings, and he contested unsuccessfully in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections as the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Lordina Mahama (née Effah; born 6 March 1963) is a Ghanaian former First Lady of Ghana who served as first lady from 2012 to 2017. The FPSO ''Kwame Nkrumah'' is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It operates in the Jubilee oil fields off the coast of Ghana. She is named after the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah. History VLCC tanker ''Tohdoh'' was built by Mitsui Eng. & Shipbuilding Co.,Ltd. in 1991. She was owned and operated by NYK Line. In 2008, she was sold to MODEC for US$42.5 million. MODEC renamed the ship ''Ohdoh'' and started her conversion into FPSO vessel. Conversion was done by SembCorp Marine at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore.
