FPAI
The Football Players' Association of India or (FPAI) is an association for Indian association footballers. Created in 2006, it aims to "look after the welfare of players and educate and advice them by engaging professionals". It was created by former India national football team, Indian national team captain Bhaichung Bhutia. In 2007, it got affiliated to FIFPro. History The FPAI was formed on 13 August 2006 as a brainchild of India national football team's then captain Bhaichung Bhutia. He said that the body would "function as the parent body of the players" and added that it would "work with the national and state associations for the game's development" and ensure "fair treatment for footballers". Membership was opened to players, both Indian and foreign. FPAI became an affiliate of FIFPro on 18 November 2009 at the FIFPro Congress in Budapest. FPAI Indian Player Of The Year
The FPAI Indian Player of the Year is an annual award given to an Indian player who is adjudged to have been the best of the season in Indian football. The award has been presented since the 2009–10 season and the winner is chosen by a vote amongst the members of the Football Players' Association of India. The first awardee was Sunil Chhetri. Since 2022, the woman counterpart of the awarded is also presented with Anju Tamang being the first awardee of it. Bhaichung Bhutia
Bhaichung Bhutia (born 15 December 1976), also spelled as Baichung Bhutia, is an Indian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Bhutia is considered as the torchbearer of Indian football in the international arena. He is often nicknamed the ''Sikkimese Sniper'' because of his shooting skills in football. Three-time Indian Player of the Year I. M. Vijayan described Bhutia as "God's gift to Indian football". Bhutia has had four spells at then I-League side East Bengal Club, the club where he started his career. When he joined English club Bury in 1999, he became the first Indian footballer to sign a contract with a European club and only the second to play professionally in Europe, after Mohammed Salim. Sunil Chhetri
Sunil Chhetri (born 3 August 1984) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains both Indian Super League club Bengaluru and the India national team. Widely regarded as the greatest Indian footballer of all time, he is known for his link-up play, goal scoring abilities, and leadership. He is the third-highest international goalscorer among active players, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the joint fifth-highest of all time, and is also the most-capped player and the all-time top goalscorer of the India national team. Renedy Singh
Potsangbam Renedy Singh, simply known as Renedy Singh (born 20 June 1979), is a former Indian football player and football pundit, who was the interim manager of Indian Super League club East Bengal for 2021–22 season. He is also the former captain of the India national football team. Singh was elected president of the Football Players' Association of India in 2014. Indian Super League
The Indian Super League (ISL) is an Indian professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Indian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and their commercial partners Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), it is officially known as Hero Indian Super League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp. The league currently comprises 11 clubs. Each season of the tournament generally runs from October to March. During the league stage of the competition, each club plays against all the other clubs in a round-robin style. Alvito Ronaldo Correia D'Cunha (born 12 July 1978, in Sanvordem) is a retired Indian football player. Football Club Goa is an Indian professional football club based in Goa, that competes in the Indian Super League, the top flight of Indian football. The club was established on 26 August 2014. Clifford Rayes Miranda (born 11 July 1982) is an Indian professional football manager and former player who is the interim head coach of Indian Super League club Odisha. Miranda was an attacking midfielder who spent most of his career with Dempo in the National Football League and the I-League from 2000 to 2015.
