Farm to Market Road 423 (FM 423) is a farm to market road in Denton County, Texas. Route description FM 423 is major north–south arterial through the cities of The Colony, Frisco, and Little Elm, providing access to area highways for both existing residences and new subdivisions being developed in central Denton County. The route begins at SH 121 (the mainlanes of which are the Sam Rayburn Tollway) in The Colony. The route travels north through The Colony, where it is known locally as Main Street, and into Frisco. It briefly skirts the eastern edge of Little Elm before reentering Frisco and ending at US 380. South of FM423 the road is signed as Josey Lane, a major north-south thoroughfare through the cities of Carrollton and Farmers Branch. The Colony, Texas
The Colony is a city in Denton County, Texas, United States, and a suburb of Dallas. The population was 44,534 at the 2020 census. History The Colony derives its name from the original Peters Colony. The Peters Colony headquarters was located within the current boundaries of The Colony in the historical community of Stewartsville and the site of the Hedgcoxe War. The Colony is also the site of Bridges Settlement (established during the years of the Republic of Texas and the oldest community in Denton County), Stewarts Creek, Rector, Stoverville and Camey, also known as Camey Spur. One of the oldest portions of The Colony is Bridges Cemetery, established in 1857 on land owned by the Bridges family, is found on Morningstar Drive. Lewisville Lake
Lewisville Lake, formerly known as Garza-Little Elm Reservoir, is a reservoir in North Texas (USA) on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Denton County near Lewisville. Originally engineered in 1927 as Lake Dallas, the reservoir was expanded in the 1940s and 1950s and renamed Lewisville Lake. It was built for flood control purposes and to serve as a water source for Dallas and its suburbs, but residents also use it for recreational purposes. History Lewisville Lake is the second lake to impound the waters of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in this area. The W.E. State Highway 24 (SH 24) runs from Campbell to Paris in north Texas. It is a portion of the main route, along with Interstate 30, from Paris to the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. History On June 21, 1917, SH 24 was designated from Denton to Whitesboro. The historic routing of SH 24 was one of the 25 original Texas state highways. Sam Rayburn Tollway
The Sam Rayburn Tollway (formerly the State Highway 121 Tollway) is a tollway operated by the North Texas Tollway Authority that runs from Grapevine to McKinney. Its frontage road are signed State Highway 121. The original portion of the toll road from Business 121 near Coppell to FM 2281 opened in May 2006, and toll collection started December 1 of that year. The tolled portion extended to Hillcrest Road in Plano/Frisco on August 31, 2008. The tollway was extended to Custer Road on September 1, 2009, and again to Hardin Boulevard in McKinney on October 1, 2009. State Highway 121 (SH 121) is a state highway angling from southwest to northeast through north central Texas. It runs from downtown Fort Worth, Texas at the junction of Interstate 35W to Bonham, Texas, just north of a junction with U.S. Highway 82. Between Fort Worth and Euless, SH 121 is known as Airport Freeway (east of Euless, this name applies to SH 183).
