FIS Ski Jumping Europa Cup
The FIS Ski Jumping Europa Cup was a series of ski jumping competitions arranged yearly by the International Ski Federation. Prior to the formation of the Continental Cup in 1993, the Europa Cup served as the second level of international ski jumping, ranking below the World Cup. Athletes competing in the Europa Cup were usually juniors and jumpers fighting for a spot on their nation's World Cup team. Often some World Cup athletes would also compete in the Europa Cup inbetween World Cup events. Ski Jumping
Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp. Along with jump length, competitor's aerial style and other factors also affect the final score. Ski jumping was first contested in Norway in the late 19th century, and later spread through Europe and North America in the early 20th century. Along with cross-country skiing, it constitutes the traditional group of Nordic skiing disciplines. The ski jumping venue, commonly referred to as a ''hill'', consists of the jumping ramp (''in-run''), take-off table, and a landing hill. Each jump is evaluated according to the distance traveled and the style performed. The distance score is related to the construction point (also known as the ''K-point''), which is a line drawn in the landing area and serves as a "target" for the competitors to reach. Vasja Bajc (born 19 January 1962) is a Slovenian ski jumping coach and former ski jumper who competed from 1979 to 1988, during which time he represented Yugoslavia. At World Cup level his best individual finishes were fifth in Planica on 21 March 1980 and ninth in Harrachov on 14 January 1984. Werner Schuster (sportsman)
Werner Schuster (born 4 September 1969 in Mittelberg, Hirschegg) is an Austrian ski jumping coach and a former ski jumper who competed from 1987 to 1995. He was the head coach of the Germany, German ski jumping national team from 2008 to 2019. From 1998 to 2007 he worked as a coach in Stams ski school (''Schigymnasium Stams''). In 2007 he became the head coach of Switzerland, Swiss ski jumping national team. In March 2008 Schuster was appointed as the head coach of the Germany, German national team, replacing Peter Rohwein. Stefan Zünd (born 3 July 1969) is a Swiss former ski jumper. He competed in the normal hill and large hill events at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Along with Jan Boklöv and Jiří Malec, he was an early pioneer of the V-style. Stefan Horngacher (born 20 September 1969) is an Austrian ski jumping coach and former ski jumper. Since April 2019 he is coaching the German national team. Career Horngacher won a bronze medal in the team large hill at the Winter Olympics in both 1994 and 1998. He also competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, with his best finish being fourth in the team large hill event.
