Planica Nordic Centre
The Planica Nordic Centre ( sl, Nordijski center Planica) is a nordic skiing complex located in Planica, Slovenia. It consists of one ski flying hill, seven ski jumping hills, and a cross-country skiing track. It is the only nordic centre in the world with eight ski jumping hills. The complex was officially opened in December 2015. Ski jumping hills There are a total of eight ski jumping hills at the Planica Nordic Centre. The complex consists of one ski flying hill, one large hill, one normal hill, and five smaller hills intended for youth ski jumpers and children. Letalnica bratov Gorišek Letalnica bratov Gorišek is the biggest of eight hills located at the Planica Nordic Centre, and is used for ski flying events. It was built in 1969 by Vlado and Janez Gorišek. Since its opening, a total of 28 world records were set at the venue. Ville Ahonen (born 14 October 1994) is a Finnish cross-country skier. Career At the Junior World Championships he competed in 2013 and 2016 (U23) with modest results. He made his World Cup debut in March 2015 in Lahti. A breakthrough was his 16th place in the Oberstdorf sprint during the 2021–22 Tour de Ski. During the late 2021–22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup season, he collected World Cup points with 22nd places in Lahti and Holmenkollen, and began the 2022–23 season with a 15th place in the Beitostølen sprint. He equalled that placement in March 2023 in Lahti, and improved further to a 14th place in the Lahti 20 kilometres in March 2024. Joni Mäki
Joni Mäki (born 24 January 1995) is a Finnish cross-country skier. He is a silver medalist in the team sprint at both the 2022 Winter Olympics and the 2021 World Championships. Career As a junior, Mäki won bronze in the sprint event at the 2014 U20 World Championships in Val di Fiemme. He made his World Cup debut in 2014 and placed in the top thirty for the first time in January 2016. So far, he has three podiums in the World Cup, one from team sprint (Planica 2020) and one from relay (Lahti 2021), and his best individual result is a 2nd place at the classical sprint in the 2021-22 season finale in Falun. In 2019, at his first World Championships in Seefeld, Mäki placed 13th in the freestyle sprint event, being the first athlete not to qualify into the semi-finals. Richard Jouve
Richard Jouve (born 25 October 1994) is a French cross-country skier who has competed since 2015. He won the 2021-22 Sprint World Cup as the first Frenchman to win a discipline globe at the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. Career Jouve, having competed in only three previous World Cup races, placed 3rd in the freestyle sprint at Lahti in 2015. In 2016, at Planica he again placed third, finishing behind Federico Pellegrino and countryman Baptiste Gros. In the team sprint the next day, Jouve and Valentin Chauvin placed third again behind Gros and Renaud Jay to end a strong weekend for the French.
