Planica Nordic Centre
The Planica Nordic Centre ( sl, Nordijski center Planica) is a nordic skiing complex located in Planica, Slovenia. It consists of one ski flying hill, seven ski jumping hills, and a cross-country skiing track. It is the only nordic centre in the world with eight ski jumping hills. The complex was officially opened in December 2015. Ski jumping hills There are a total of eight ski jumping hills at the Planica Nordic Centre. The complex consists of one ski flying hill, one large hill, one normal hill, and five smaller hills intended for youth ski jumpers and children. Letalnica bratov Gorišek Letalnica bratov Gorišek is the biggest of eight hills located at the Planica Nordic Centre, and is used for ski flying events. Planica
Planica () is an Alpine valley in northwestern Slovenia, extending south from the border village of Rateče, not far from another well-known ski resort, Kranjska Gora. Further south, the valley extends into the Tamar Valley, a popular hiking destination in Triglav National Park. Planica is famous for ski jumping. The first ski jumping hill was constructed before 1930 at the slope of Mount Ponca. In 1933, Ivan Rožman constructed a larger hill, known as the Bloudek Giant (''Bloudkova velikanka'') after Stanko Bloudek, which later gave rise to ski flying. The venue was completed in 1934. The first ski jump over in history was achieved at the hill in 1936 by Sepp Bradl. At the time, it was the biggest jumping hill in the world. Federico Pellegrino (born 1 September 1990) is an Italian cross-country skier. Pellegrino is a world champion and Olympic silver medalist in cross-country skiing. In the 2015/2016 season, he won the sprint cup. Pellegrino is an athlete of the G.S. Fiamme Oro. Biography Originally from Nus, Pellegrino made his World Cup debut in the 2009–10 season. He has achieved his best results in the sprint events and won the Sprint Cup in the 2015–16 season, becoming the first non-Scandinavian to win the Sprint World Cup. Heidi Weng (born 20 July 1991) is a Norwegian cross-country skier and fell runner. Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen
Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen (born 22 January 1987) is a Norwegian cross-country skier and a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). She skis with the IL Heming club in Oslo, near Holmenkollen. Her greatest achievement is winning the gold medal in sprint at the 2007 World Championships. On 22 April 2020, she announced her retirement from cross-country skiing in favour of medical studies. Stina Nilsson (born 24 June 1993) is a Swedish biathlete and former cross-country skier. She is a five-time Olympic medalist and the 2018 Olympic champion in the individual sprint. In March 2020 she announced that she would switch to competing in biathlon. Alexey Yurevich Poltoranin ( kk, Алексей Юрьевич Полтаранин, born April 29, 1987) is a Kazakh cross-country skier who has competed at the international senior level since 2004. He has three World Cup wins, one in 2010 and two in 2013. In the 2013 World Championship in Val di Fiemme he won two bronze medals. Most of his best results are in the classic technique. Teodor Anders Peterson (born 1 May 1988 in Umeå) is a Swedish former cross-country skier that had sprint as his best discipline. Career He debuted in the World Cup on 7 March 2009 in Lahti in the 2008–09 season. Peterson made his breakthrough in the 2011–12 season.
