FIA Autocross
In Europe Autocross is car racing on a race track with unsealed surface (dirt, gravel or soil). Cars compete against the clock, and start at the same time. A well attended international series is the FIA European Championship for Autocross Drivers. History Autocross started in the end of the 1940s in the United Kingdom as a club competition. It took until 1968 when the first Autocross event was staged in continental Europe (Austria). In 1976 the FIA created standardized Autocross rules and started a European Autocross cup for specialized cross cars. In 1979 a cup for touring cars was added. In 1981 both categories were promoted to be a European Championship for Autocross Drivers. Folkrace
Folk racing or folkrace ( fi, jokamiesluokka; sv, folkrace; lv, folkreiss; da, folkeræs; no, bilcross) is a popular, inexpensive, and entry-level form of Nordic rallycross that originally comes from Finland, where it is also called ''jokkis'' or ''Jokamiehenluokka'' (everyman's class). About The races are run on special gravel or tarmac tracks, in length. The tracks are designed to limit the top speed to , but on most of the tracks speeds of over can be reached. The competitions are divided into different classes depending on age and gender. Participants can be as young as 14 years of age. The race is divided into different heats with usually 6 cars. The driver winning a race is awarded seven points, second five points, third four points and so on. When all the heats have been driven, the total score is calculated and the top six drivers get to race in the A final, the next six in the B final and so on. The winner of the A final wins the event. Crosskart
Crosskart or off-road kart is a type of kart racing that takes place on autocross, rallycross, dirt oval or ice racing tracks instead of on paved tracks. Competitions take place in classes that are based on cylinder volume (125 cc, 250 cc, or 650 cc). The 125 cc class is a junior class, open to those 12 years of age and older, but one can begin training at age 10. The 250 cc, and 650 cc classes are open to people above 16 years of age. Erland Andersson of Sweden is said to have invented the crosskart in the early 1980s. The idea was to create something that is safe, cheap, and easy to maintain, but still fun to ride. The crosskart is basically a simplified version of a sprint car, midget car and mini sprint. Crosskarting is probably most popular in the Nordic countries, although in southern Europe a similar motorsport with more powerful engines, ''kartcross'', exists. British Autocross
Autocross (also called "Solo", "Auto-x" or "Autoslalom") is a timed competition in which drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course on either a sealed or an unsealed surface. It is a form of motorsports that emphasizes safe competition and active participation. Autocross differs from road racing and oval racing in that generally there is only one car on the track, driving against the clock rather than other cars. As an entry-level motorsport it provides a stepping stone for drivers looking to move into other more competitive and possibly expensive forms of racing (such as rallying, rallycross and circuit racing). Autocross courses are typically one to two kilometres long and tend to place demands on car handling and driver skill rather than on engine power and outright speed. Autograss
{{advert, date=March 2012 Autograss racing is a form of amateur motor racing in Britain. Races are held at venues throughout the UK and Ireland. Its origins can be traced back to the 1960s. Autograss races take place usually on tracks of roughly 400 metres with grass or mud surfaces.
