Exeter Chiefs Women
Exeter Chiefs Women are a professional women's rugby union team based in Exeter, Devon, England. They were founded in 2019 to take part in the Premier 15s, the top level of English women's rugby. They are based at Sandy Park and are affiliated to Premiership Rugby's Exeter Chiefs. The side is coached by Head Coach, Susie Appleby. Kate Zackary and Poppy Leitch operate as co-captains of the side. Creation The creation of Exeter Chiefs Women was announced in September 2019 with former England women's national rugby union team players Susie Appleby and Amy Garnett announced as their first coaches. Exeter Chiefs announced they would be spending £500,000 to set up the women's team ahead of a scheduled audit of the Premier 15s by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) in the hopes they would be able to apply for a place in the league. Sandy Park
Sandy Park is a rugby union stadium and conference and banqueting centre in Exeter, England. It is the home ground of Exeter Chiefs, who from the 2010–11 season have been playing in the Gallagher Premiership, the top flight of the English rugby union league system. The club relocated there from their former stadium at the County Ground in 2006. The stadium can hold 15,600 spectators and is located adjacent to M5 junction 30, which is around 5 miles from Exeter City Centre. Sandy Park played host to the England Saxons vs Ireland Wolfhounds on 28 January 2012; the England Saxons won 23–17. Women's Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cup is the women's rugby union world championship which is organised by World Rugby. The first Rugby World Cup for women was held in 1991, but it was not until the 1998 tournament that the tournament received official backing from the International Rugby Board (IRB, now World Rugby); by 2009, the IRB had retroactively recognized the 1991 and 1994 tournaments and their champions. The tournament is currently held every four years, and was most recently held in New Zealand in 2021, postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Merryn Doidge (born 2 December 2000, Cornwall) is an English rugby union player. She plays for Exeter Chiefs at club level and was an invitational player for the England squad at the 2021 Women's Six Nations. Niamh Terry (born 30 April 2000) is a Welsh Rugby Union player who plays fly half for the Wales women's national rugby union team and Exeter Chiefs. She made her debut for the Wales national squad in 2019 and was part of the team at the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship. Chloe Rollie (born 26 June 1995, Edinburgh) is a Scottish international rugby union footballer who currently plays as a full-back for Exeter Chiefs Women in the Premier 15s, as well as the Scottish national team. Zintle Mpupha
Zintle Mpupha is a South African women's rugby union player and cricketer from Xesi, Eastern Cape, South Africa. She played cricket for Border cricket team and rugby for Border Bulldogs as well as the South Africa women's national rugby sevens team as a fly half. Rugby Mpupha played rugby for Border Bulldogs. Megan Davies (born 19 January 2002) is a Welsh Rugby Union player who plays scrum half for the Wales women's national rugby union team and Bristol Bears. Nichola Fryday
Nichola Fryday (born 2 June 1995) is an Irish rugby player from Kilcormac, Co Offaly. Nichola graduated from University College Dublin with a BAgrSc 2017 (Bachelor in Agricultural Science). She plays for Blackrock College RFC, Connacht Rugby and the Ireland women's national rugby union team. She has played for Ireland since 2016 and represented them in the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship. Club career Fryday did not take up rugby until she was at university. Abbie Fleming (born 31 March 1996) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays flanker for the Wales women's national rugby union team and lock for Exeter Chiefs in the Premier 15s. Hope Rogers (born January 7, 1993) is an American rugby union player who plays for Exeter Chiefs in the Allianz Premier 15s. She has competed for the Eagles in three consecutive Rugby World Cup's, at the 2014, 2017 and the delayed 2021 tournament. Early career Rogers began playing rugby as a sophomore in 2009 at Chambersburg Area Senior High School.
