Sarah Everard
On the evening of 3 March 2021, 33-year-old Sarah Everard was kidnapped in South London, England, as she was walking home to the Brixton Hill area from a friend's house near Clapham Common. She was stopped by off-duty Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens who identified himself as a police officer, handcuffed her, and placed her in his car before driving her to near Dover where he raped and strangled her, before burning her body and disposing of her remains in a nearby pond. On 9 March 2021, Couzens was arrested in Deal, Kent, first on suspicion of effecting Everard's kidnap and later on suspicion of her murder. Everard's remains were discovered in woodland near Ashford, Kent on 10 March; following their identification, Couzens was charged with her kidnapping and murder. Vigils were held for Everard on the evening of 13 March. Everard Baronets
There have been three baronetcies created for persons with the surname Everard, one in the Baronetage of Ireland, one in the Baronetage of England and one in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Only one creation is extant as of 2010. The Everard Baronetcy, of Ballyboy in the County of Tipperary, was created in the Baronetage of Ireland on 30 April 1622 for Richard Everard of Fethard, County Tipperary. He was the second son of Sir John Everard (died 1624), justice of the Court of King's Bench (Ireland), and member of the Irish House of Commons for Tipperary. Sir John was a devout Roman Catholic, and this led both to his dismissal from the Bench and his disqualification from office after his election as Speaker in the Irish Parliament of 1613; but the fact that his son was created a baronet in his father's lifetime suggests that Sir John was still held in high regard by the Crown. Charles George Everard
Dr Charles George Everard MD (29 August 1794 – 30 March 1876) was a physician, pioneer farmer and Member of the Legislative Council, in the early days of South Australia. Early life Charles was born in Marshfield Gloucestershire on 29 August 1794. He, his wife Catherine (1786–1866), and children William (1819–1889), Charles John (1821–1892) and James George (died 1840 at aged 15) of Gloucestershire, arrived in Adelaide from London on the ship under Captain John Finlay Duff on 9 November 1836, and were present at the Proclamation of the new Colony. Contribution to South Australia Before leaving England he had purchased Sections 43 and 44 in the Hundred of Adelaide and eight Town Acres. He built his first house on one of these, on the corner of Hindley and Morphett Streets, along with a row of shops. He then turned his attention to Section 43 on the Bay Road (now Anzac Highway). Harriett Everard (12 March 1844 – 22 February 1882) was an English singer and actress best known for originating the role of Little Buttercup in the Gilbert and Sullivan hit ''H.M.S. Pinafore'' in 1878. The character regretfully reveals a key secret that sets up the ending of the opera. Everard had a stage career of 20 years, although she died at the age of 37. She appeared, for the first 15 of these, in numerous burlesques, pantomimes, comic operas, comic plays and even some dramas. She played in a few of W. S. Mathias Everard, KH (died 1857), was a major-general of Randilestown, Co. Meath. He was the third son of Thomas Everard of Randilestown, by his wife and cousin, Barbara, daughter of O'Reilly of Ballinlough Castle, and sister of Sir Henry Nugent, was appointed ensign in the 2nd or Queen's, regiment at Gibraltar 28 September 1804, and became lieutenant 21 March 1805. He served as Lieutenant-Governor of British Saint Lucia from 1839 to 1841. Everard 't Serclaes
Everard t'Serclaes, Lord of Kruikenburg (c. 1320 – 31 March 1388) was a citizen of Brussels who was made famous by his recovery of the city from the Flemings. His brother, Jean, was bishop of Cambrai. After the death of John III of Brabant on 5 December 1355, his daughter Joanna and her husband, Wenceslaus, succeeded him as rulers of the duchy. Their succession was disputed by the count of Flanders, Louis de Male. Louis invaded Brabant and quickly seized Brussels. On the night of 24 October 1356, Everard scaled the city walls leading a group of patriots and drove the Flemings from the city.
