Norwich (UK Parliament Constituency)
Norwich was a borough constituency in Norfolk which was represented in the House of Commons of England from 1298 to 1707, in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800, and in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1801 until it was abolished for the 1950 United Kingdom general election, 1950 general election. Consisting of the city of Norwich in Norfolk, it returned two members of parliament (MPs), elected by the Plurality-at-large voting, bloc vote system. It was replaced in 1950 by two new single-member constituencies, Norwich North (UK Parliament constituency), Norwich North and Norwich South (UK Parliament constituency), Norwich South. William Everard (Digger)
William Everard (bap. 1602, d. in or after 1651) was an early leader of the Diggers. Biography William Everard was apprenticed on 14 August 1616 to Robert Miller of the Merchant Taylors' Company, London. He was the son of William Everad, a yeoman of Reading and had been baptized on 9 May 1602 in the parish of St Giles, Reading, as William Evered. This Everad took the Protestation Oath in the parish of St Lawrence, Reading on 20 February 1642. Less than a year later a William Everard was serving as a Parliamentary scout for Sir Samuel Luke in the Berkshire and Oxfordshire area. Hessayon speculates that he may have been captured by the Royalists as there is no record of him until May 1647 when an ensign by the name of William Everard signed a petition voicing the grievances of the army under the command of Sir Thomas Fairfax. William Everard (Victorian Politician)
William Hugh Everard (28 Nov 1869 – 12 April 1950), Australian politician, was a Member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Evelyn from 1917 until his retirement in 1950. He is the son of John Everard, who was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly holding non-contiguous terms between 1858 and 1874. Everard was born in East Melbourne and was educated at Mornington Grammar School and Scotch College. He was a partner and eventually proprietor of the family firm, Everard Brothers, in business as tea merchants. Everard was Chairman of the Sir Colin Mackenzie Sanctuary, Healesville, from 1949–1950, President of Old Scotch Collegians and a founder and president of Old Scotch Football Club. William Everard (South Australian Politician)
William Edward Everard (December 1819 – 25 August 1889) was a South Australian businessman and politician. Everard was the son of Dr. Charles George Everard (1794–1876) and his wife Catherine (1786–1866), originally of London. The family, which included his mother and brothers Charles John Everard (ca.1822 – 22 July 1892) and James George (died 3 May 1840, aged 15), arrived in Adelaide on the ship under Captain John Finlay Duff in 1836. His father was one of the first eighteen elected to South Australia's unicameral Legislative Council in 1839. By 1843 William and his brother Charles were farming a jointly-owned property in Myponga, while Dr. C. G. Everard was developing his properties "Ashford" and "Marshfield", to the west and east of the Bay Road respectively, and comprising much of the land between Keswick and Glenelg.
