Évanturel (2016 population 449) is a township in Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada. It almost completely surrounds the town of Englehart. The main settlement in Évanturel is the community of Heaslip. It was named after François-Eugène-Alfred Évanturel, the first Francophone speaker for the Ontario legislative assembly. Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park is partially located in the township. Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park
Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park is a protected area in the incorporated townships of Charlton and Dack and Evanturel in Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Established in 1957, the park is located along the Englehart River, off Ontario Highway 11 about south of the town of Englehart. Kap-Kig-Iwan is classified as a Natural Environment park and is a provincial park of Ontario. Kap-Kig-Iwan has both electric and non-electric campsites. Englehart (Canada 2016 Census population 1,479) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located on the Blanche River in the Timiskaming District. Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park is located near the town of Englehart. History The Town of Englehart was created by the building of the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario (T & NO) Railway and named after Chairman Jacob Lewis Englehart. It was incorporated as the Town of Englehart in January 1908, as a half-way divisional point between North Bay, Ontario and what became Cochrane, Ontario, where the T & NO Railway met with the new Transcontinental Railway line (now the CNR) being built west from Quebec City across the north to the Western Provinces, creating the town of Cochrane. Charlton and Dack is a municipality in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within the Timiskaming District. Its population in 2016 was 686. The municipality was incorporated on January 1, 2003 by amalgamating the former village of Charlton with the former township of Dack. Geography Charlton and Dack is a small community located in North Eastern Ontario along Highway 11 and along the shoreline of Long Lake. Armstrong ( 2016 Population 1,166) is a township in the Timiskaming District of Ontario. The only population centre in the township is the community of Earlton. The township is named after Samuel Armstrong, an Independent member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for Parry Sound from 1886 to 1890. History Earlton began to be settled in 1900 as a lumber community by pioneers mostly from York County, soon followed by French-speaking farmers who cultivated the flat prairie-like land of the surrounding Great Clay Belt.
