European Artistic Gymnastics Championships – Women's Individual All-around
The European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships were first held in 1957. Three medals are awarded: gold for first place, silver for second place, and bronze for third place. Tie breakers have not been used in every year. In the event of a tie between two gymnasts, both names are listed, and the following position (second for a tie for first, third for a tie for second) is left empty because a medal was not awarded for that position. If three gymnastics tied for a position, the following two positions are left empty. Svetlana Khorkina, with three golds and one silver, holds the record for most medals in this event. Khorkina and Nadia Comăneci are tied for most gold medals. European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The European Women's Gymnastics Championships are an artistic championships for female gymnasts from European countries organised by the European Union of Gymnastics. They are held annually, though rotate between two different formats. History Originally held biannually in odd-numbered years, the championships moved to even-numbered years in 1990. In 2005 a second set of championships was introduced, titled the "individual championships". Polina Astakhova
Polina Ghrighorievna Astakhova (Полина Григорьевна Астахова, 30 October 1936 – 5 August 2005) was a Soviet and Ukrainian artistic gymnast. She won ten medals at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics. Biography Astakhova became interested in artistic gymnastics at age 13, after she had watched the gymnastics championships in Donetsk, where their family moved a short time before. She trained in the local gymnastics sports club Shakhtyor under Vladimir Alieksandrovitch Smirnov. Astakhova earned a nickname ''The Russian Birch'' in Western countries for her exceptional grace, and at the 1960 Olympics she was even called ''Madonna'' by the Italian journalists. Zinaida Voronina
Zinaida Voronina, born Zinaida Borisovna Druzhinina (also Druginina), (russian: Зинаида Борисовна Дружинина Воронина; 10 December 1947 – 17 March 2001) was a Soviet gymnast who competed at the European, World, and Olympic level from the mid-1960s to early 1970s. Training under Vladimir Shelkovnikov, Voronina's major debut came at the 1966 World Championships in Dortmund, Germany. There she won a bronze medal on the floor exercise, receiving the highest individual score of any gymnast at those games (9.933), which might have been the first time that any woman gymnast broke the 9.900 score barrier in the post-1952 era, presaging the perfect 10s that Věra Čáslavská would score the next year at the 1967 European Championships and the perfect 10s that Nadia Comăneci would score so famously at the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics.
