Europe-Jeunesse
Europe-Jeunesse is a French neo-pagan scouting organization established in 1973 and influenced by Nouvelle Droite values. History After a meeting held in December 1972 between GRECE members Jean Mabire, Maurice Rollet and Jean-Claude Valla to discuss the creation of a pagan scouting organization, Europe-Jeunesse organized its first camp in Bussy-en-Othe in July 1973, under the supervision of Raymond Ferrand, a former member of ''Europe-Action''. Europe-Jeunesse is an attempt at a synthesis between the early French scouting movement of (1875–1914) and the pre-Nazi German Youth Movement. The group adopted the symbol of the defunct ''Europe-Action'' and the FEN'','' a hoplite helmet. GRECE
The Groupement de Recherche et d'Études pour la Civilisation Européenne ("Research and Study Group for European Civilization"), better known as GRECE, is a French ethnonationalist think tank founded in 1968 to promote the ideas of the Nouvelle Droite ("New Right"). GRECE founding member Alain de Benoist has been described as its leader and "most authoritative spokesman". Prominent former members include Guillaume Faye and Jean-Yves Le Gallou. GRECE is deeply opposed to multiculturalism, liberal democracy, capitalism, and distinguishes itself from other national-conservative organizations in its specific rejection of Christianity and endorsement of neopaganism. Jean Mabire
Jean Mabire (8 February 1927—29 March 2006) was a French journalist and essayist. A neo-pagan and nordicist, Mabire is known for the regionalist and euronationalist ideas that he developed in both ''Europe-Action'' and GRECE, as well as his controversial books on the Waffen-SS. Biography Early life Jean Pol Yves Jacques Mabire was born in Paris on 8 February 1927, to a bourgeois family originally from Vire, Normandy. He attended the Collège Stanislas, where he earned a '' baccalauréat'' in literature and philosophy. In 1949, at the age of 22, Mabire created the regionalist magazine ''Viking'' and in 1951 left Paris to settle in Cherbourg, Normandy, where he founded a graphic arts workshop. Mabire wrote the majority of the 162 articles published by the magazine until its end in 1958. ''Viking'' had 300 to 400 subscribers and the most popular issues sold around 1,000 copies. Maurice Rollet
Maurice Rollet (30 January 1933 – 21 January 2014) was a French poet, activist and medical doctor. He sometimes used the pseudonym ''François Le Cap''. Biography In the 1960s, he was involved as a far right-wing activist with Jeune Nation, ''Europe-Action'', and supported the OAS, for which he was imprisoned. In 1968 he was one of the co-founders of the ''Nouvelle Droite'' think thank GRECE and became its first president. According to Rollet, the organization was founded at his birthday party in Marseille on 29 January 1968, although this account has been contested. In 1973 he co-founded the neopagan scouting organization Europe-Jeunesse alongside Jean-Claude Valla and Jean Mabire. Jean-Claude Valla
Jean-Claude Valla (16 May 1944 – 25 February 2010) was a French journalist and a prominent figure of the Nouvelle Droite. Biography Early life Jean-Claude Valla was born on 16 May 1944 in Roanne, Loire. Between 1962 and 1965, he was the leader the Federation of Nationalist Students (FEN) branch in Lyon, serving also in two redaction committees: in the FEN magazine ''Cahiers Universitaires'', and in ''Europe-Action'', a white nationalist review founded in 1963 by Dominique Venner. GRECE Valla was a founding member of GRECE, an ethno-nationalist think tank set up in January 1968. He also participated in the founding of the scouting organization Europe-Jeunesse in 1973. ''Europe-Action'' was a far-right white nationalist and euro-nationalist magazine and movement, founded by Dominique Venner in 1963 and active until 1966. Yvan Benedetti (born 16 September 1965) is a French far-right activist. The former president of L'Œuvre Française (2012-13), he has been the spokesman of the French Nationalist Party since 2015. Biography Early life Yvan Benedetti was born on 16 September 1965 in La Réunion, from a Corsican father. Solstice
A solstice is an event that occurs when the Sun appears to reach its most northerly or southerly excursion relative to the celestial equator on the celestial sphere. Two solstices occur annually, around June 21 and December 21. In many countries, the seasons of the year are determined by the solstices and the equinoxes. The term ''solstice'' can also be used in a broader sense, as the day when this occurs. Equinox
A solar equinox is a moment in time when the Sun crosses the Earth's equator, which is to say, appears directly above the equator, rather than north or south of the equator. Jean-Yves Le Gallou
Jean-Yves Le Gallou (born 4 October 1948) is a French politician. He served as a member of the European Parliament from 1994 until 1999, representing the National Front. Since 2022, he has been a member of Reconquête. Career Le Gallou began his political career as a member of the Republican Party. In 1974 he joined Yvan Blot in setting up the Club de l'Horloge. As the club developed links with GRECE Le Gallou grew in importance, serving as a bridge between the Nouvelle Droite and mainstream right-wing politics. Le Gallou grew close to the National Front and helped to develop their ''préférence nationale'' policy of the 1980s, which called for welfare, health, education and job provisions to be given to French citizens of autochthonous origins first.
