Euro-Fighter
The Euro-Fighter is a type of steel roller coaster developed by Gerstlauer. First launched in 2003, the trademark feature of the roller coaster is its beyond-vertical drop, which reaches an angle greater than 90 degrees. Although the majority of Euro-Fighters are custom designed for each installation, every design so far has included the trademark drop. A number of different track elements are possible, including vertical loops, diving loops and barrel rolls. Almost all Euro-Fighter models have a vertical chain-driven lift hill, although LSM launch systems are also available. Riders are transported in individual cars around the track, which feature two rows of four seats. Two exceptions are ''Huracan'' at the Belantis amusement park in Germany and ''Dare Devil Dive'' at Six Flags Over Georgia, which both feature cars similar to those used on Gerstlauer's launched roller coasters. Gerstlauer
Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GmbH is a German manufacturer of stationary and transportable amusement rides and roller coasters, located in Münsterhausen, Germany. History In 1982, Hubert Gerstlauer, a former employee of the Anton Schwarzkopf-owned Schwarzkopf Industries GmbH company founded his own company, named Gerstlauer Elektro GmbH. With this new Gerstlauer-named company, he delivered electric and pneumatic equipment for Schwarzkopf's facilities. After final bankruptcy of Schwarzkopf Industries GmbH in 1992, Gerstlauer Elektro GmbH acquired part of their production sites and facilities, and continued the manufacture of amusement rides and roller coasters. In March 2007, Gerstlauer Elektro GmbH was subsequently renamed Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GmbH. Dare Devil Dive
''Dare Devil Dive'' is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. Designed by German company Gerstlauer, ''Dare Devil Dive'' is based on the company's Euro-Fighter model, and features a -tall vertical lift hill, a 95° first drop, three inversions and a top speed of . It is also the first Euro-Fighter to debut a new lap-bar restraint system, replacing the more common over-the-shoulder harnesses. History First announced on September 1, 2010, ''Dare Devil Dive'' was placed in the park's USA section, which also includes the ''Goliath'' roller coaster. The park demolished its long-standing Drive-in theater building in the spring of 2010 and removed its indoor Eli Bridge Scrambler "Shake Rattle and Roll" in the fall of that year. Untamed (ride)
Untamed is a steel Euro-Fighter roller coaster located at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Layout The ride is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter, 320+ model. The ride was installed by Ride Entertainment Group, who handles all of Gerstlauer's operations in the Western Hemisphere. A 90° vertical lift hill is followed by a , 97° beyond-vertical drop. After the drop the 8 person cars go through three inversions: a large vertical loop, a cutback and a heartline roll. The ride has a forest and wilderness theme with the supports for the ride made to look like white birch trees (the state tree of New Hampshire) and the track painted dark green. The coaster layout for Untamed is particularly close to two other Euro-Fighter (model 320+) roller coasters: Rage at Adventure Island and Falcon at Duinrell. Mystery Mine
Mystery Mine is a steel roller coaster located at Dollywood amusement park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Manufactured by Gerstlauer, the Euro-Fighter model is heavily themed as a haunted mining operation from the 19th century. The roller coaster was Dollywood's largest single investment in the park's history at the time, costing $17.5 million to construct. A large portion of the track is located indoor, where the ride utilizes a series of special effects. It was the first Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter installation in the United States and had the steepest drop of any coaster in North America at the time of its opening. Rage is a steel roller coaster situated at Adventure Island in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. Rage is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter model roller coaster (the 6th overall to be built). Vild-Svinet (Danish for The Wild Boar) is a steel roller coaster at BonBon-Land in southern Zealand, Denmark, approximately from Copenhagen. Vild-Svinet is the prototype for the Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster model. At 97 degrees, the coaster is the steepest roller coaster in Denmark. History and design Opening on 16 May 2003, Vild-Svinet was the first ever Euro-Fighter model coaster to be built. When it opened, Vild-Svinet was the steepest roller coaster in the world (other Euro-Fighters would later tie its record) until its record was surpassed by Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach. Huracan (Belantis)
Huracan is a steel roller coaster at Belantis amusement park in Leipzig, Germany. Huracan is one of two Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter model roller coasters in Germany, the other being Fluch von Novgorod. History Huracan was originally intended to be delivered to the proposed F1-X Dubai amusement park in Dubai, but the Financial crisis of 2007–08 and the Great Recession led to the cancellation of the coaster's installation in Dubai. Instead, the coaster was acquired by Belantis amusement park for €5,000,000 and the coaster was opened on 26 June 2010. Falcon is a steel roller coaster at the amusement park Duinrell, located in Wassenaar, Netherlands. The roller coaster is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter model coaster which was opened to the public on 14 May 2009. At 97 degrees, Falcon has a steeper-than-vertical drop, and the steepest drop of any roller coaster in the Netherlands. Nickelodeon Universe is the name of two indoor amusement parks located at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota and American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with a third location under construction at the Mall of China in Chongqing, China. Oakwood Theme Park (formerly Oakwood Leisure Park, Oakwood Coaster Country & Oakwood Park) is a theme park in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
