Eunos Bus Interchange
Eunos Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located in Geylang East, Singapore. It is located and built beside Eunos MRT station and is surrounded by Eunos Road 2, Eunos Crescent and Sims Avenue. The interchange is designed with traditional Malay roof structure and shape, but using modern materials such as steel beams, similar to that of the Eunos MRT station. It gives a sense of identity to the area as the bus interchange lies close to Geylang and also to honour Eunos Abdullah whom secured 700-hectares of land for the Malay settlements in the early 1900s. Bus Contracting Model (Singapore)
The Bus Contracting Model (BCM), formerly known as the Government Contracting Model, is a contracting model introduced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in 2014 for public buses in Singapore, implemented in 2016. The BCM is based on the Transperth model in Perth, Western Australia with quality incentive elements from London Buses. Under the BCM, local and overseas bus operators bid for contracts to operate public bus services on behalf of LTA. The LTA has also adopted a new unified lush green livery and logo for all buses, and now procures and owns the bus fleet for all public bus services in Singapore. Pasir Ris Bus Interchange
Pasir Ris Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located at Pasir Ris in the eastern part of Singapore. It is located off Pasir Ris Drive 3, adjacent to Pasir Ris MRT station and near White Sands Shopping Centre. This bus interchange also serves as a pick-up/drop-off point for shuttle buses ferrying NSF men heading to the SAF Ferry Terminal for their shuttle ferry to Pulau Tekong. History The interchange was built at a cost of S$2.7 million and opened on 10 December 1989, along with the Eunos Bus Interchange. Geylang
Geylang is a planning area and township located on the eastern fringe of the Central Region of Singapore, bordering Hougang and Toa Payoh in the north, Marine Parade in the south, Bedok in the east, and Kallang in the west. Geylang is perhaps best known as a red-light district, particularly the areas along Geylang Road. Geylang is also where one of Singapore's oldest Malay settlements, Geylang Serai, is located. Geylang East
Geylang East, more commonly known as Eunos, is a subzone located in Geylang in the Central Region of Singapore. The vicinity is served by both Paya Lebar and Eunos MRT stations. "Eunos" is also the name given to a street called which spans the area. Etymology and History The settlement was originally named Kampong Melayu, a large Malay village that used to include Kampong Ubi and Kaki Bukit areas. Eunos MRT Station
Eunos MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West MRT Line in Geylang, Singapore. It is located next to the Eunos Bus Interchange. The station was named in honour of an early Malay pioneer, Muhammad Eunos bin Abdullah, who secured 700-hectares of land for Malay settlements in the area called Jalan Eunos Malay Settlement (Kampung Melayu).
