''Trust''; correct transcription: ettemād, because in pronunciation the letter "t" is duplicated) is a reformist newspaper in Iran that is published in Tehran. It is managed by Elias Hazrati, who was representative from Rasht and Tehran in the Parliament of Iran. Overview The first edition of ''Etemad'' was published in Tehran in 2002. Its chief editor is Behrooz Behzadi. The editorial board of Etemad include journalists, who worked previously in reformist Iranian magazines and newspapers, which were banned by the Iranian judiciary. The paper focuses on political, cultural, social and economic news. Mehdi Karroubi
Mehdi Karroubi ( fa, مهدی کروبی, Mehdi Karrubi, born 26 September 1937) is an Iranian Shia cleric and Iranian reform movement, reformist politician leading the National Trust Party (Iran), National Trust Party. Following 2009–2010 Iranian election protests, Karroubi was put under house arrest in February 2011 – reportedly ordered by the Supreme Leader of Iran – without officially being charged, although he is accused of being a "seditionist" and "traitor". As of 2021, he is still confined to his house. Elias Hazrati
Elias Hazrati (born 13 March 1961, Hashtrud) is an Iranian politician, journalist and former military officer. He served as a member of the Parliament of Iran from 1989 until 2004. He is currently editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper ''Etemad''. National Trust Party (Iran)
National Trust Party ( fa, حزب اعتماد ملی, Ḥezb-e Eʿtemād-e Mellī, also translated as National Confidence Party) is an Iranian political party based on reformist and populist message. It was established in 2005 by former Parliament speaker Mehdi Karroubi following his defeat in 2005 presidential election. List Of Newspapers In Iran
The first Iranian newspapers appeared in the mid-19th century during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah. More specifically, the first newspaper in Iran, Kaghaz-e Akhbar (The Newspaper), was launched for the government by Mirza Saleh Shirazi in 1837. By 1907 (the era of the Persian Constitutional Revolution), there were 90 newspapers circulating in Iran. In 1952 under Mohammad Musaddiq's government there were 300 newspapers, including twenty-five dailies. During the 1979 revolution the number of newspapers was 100, of which twenty-three were dailies. As of 2000 there were 23 Persian dailies, three English dailies and one Arabic daily in the country. In the period between 2000 and 2004 a total of 85 newspapers were closed down in Iran. Iranian Presidential Election, 2009
Presidential elections were held in Iran on 12 June 2009, with incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad running against three challengers. The next morning the Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran's news agency, announced that with two-thirds of the votes counted, Ahmadinejad had won the election with 62% of the votes cast, and that Mir-Hossein Mousavi had received 34% of the votes cast. Rasht ( fa, رشت, Rašt ; glk, Rəšt, script=Latn; also romanized as Resht and Rast, and often spelt ''Recht'' in French and older German manuscripts) is the capital city of Gilan Province, Iran. Thomas Erdbrink (; born January 27, 1976) is a Dutch journalist who is the Northern Europe bureau chief for ''The New York Times'', covering Nordic countries and the Netherlands.
