Eslöv
Eslöv (; older da, Eslev) is a town and the seat of Eslöv Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 19,598 inhabitants as of 2018. Eslöv is part of the Öresund Region. History According to a map from 1717, Eslöv village was originally located in the current crossing Västergatan-Remmarlövsvägen. When the Southern Main Line, already passing through cities such as Stockholm and Malmö, was built through Eslöv the town's growth took off. On 4 October 1858 the first trains rolled on the southern main line through Eslöv. On 1 July 1865 the railway from Eslöv to Landskrona and Helsingborg (see Rååbanan) was taken into use and on 1 May 1866 the railway opened to Ystad. Eslöv had become a significant railroad link, and trade to and from the resort increased significantly. In 1897, Eslöv- Hörby railway opened, which was later extended to Kristianstad. Eslöv Municipality
Eslöv Municipality (''Eslövs kommun'') is one of 290 municipalities of Sweden, situated in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Eslöv. The present municipality was created in 1971, when the former ''City of Eslöv'' was amalgamated with a number of surrounding municipalities, most of them created by the earlier nationwide local government reform in 1952. The municipality has several interesting places. There are 11 castles. Hjularöd's castle was the setting of the Swedish TV classic ''Mystery of Greveholm'' broadcast by SVT. In the Västra Strö village by the church there is an ancient monument consisting of five standing stones and two runestones DR 334 and DR 335 dating from about the year 1000. Skåne County ( sv, Skåne län, link=no ), sometimes referred to as Scania County in English, is the most southern county, or , of Sweden, basically corresponding to the traditional province Scania. It borders the counties of Halland, Kronoberg and Blekinge and connects to Capital Region, Denmark by the Öresund Bridge. The seat of residence for the Skåne Governor is the city of Malmö. The headquarters of Skåne Regional Council are located in both Kristianstad and Malmö. Skåne
Scania, also known by its native name of Skåne (, ), is the southernmost of the historical provinces (''landskap'') of Sweden. Landskrona
Landskrona (old da, Landskrone) is a town in Scania, Sweden. Located on the shores of the Öresund, it occupies a natural port, which has lent the town at first military and subsequent commercial significance. Ferries operate from Landskrona to the island of Ven, and for many years there was also a connection to Copenhagen. Landskrona is part of the Øresund region. The counties of Sweden (Swedish: ''Sveriges län'') are the top-level geographic subdivisions of Sweden. Sweden is today divided into 21 counties; however, the number of counties has varied over time, due to territorial gains/losses and to divisions and/or mergers of existing counties. Hörby
Hörby () (old da, Hørby) is a locality and the seat of Hörby Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 15 631 inhabitants in 2019. 6 km (3.7 mi) south-east of the center of Hörby is at least since 1959 the location of a radio and TV transmitter. Short wave antennas have been dismantled there in 2011. Climate Hörby has a transitional maritime- continental climate with moderate seasonal swings by Nordic inland standards. The weather station was opened in 1995 and thus cold records are limited, but nearby Stehag recorded in February 1979. With a January mean just below freezing, Hörby is as of 2021, the southernmost station in Sweden to average a meteorological winter under Nordic definitions of means. Staffanstorp
Staffanstorp is a locality and the seat of Staffanstorp Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 14,808 inhabitants in 2010. Staffanstorp is the largest Scanian settlement never to acquire town privileges before 1971, when they were abolished in Sweden. Geography The town is situated at the center of a large triangular fertile plain, reaching approximately 25 kilometres from the Øresund strait inwards in Scania. The base of the triangle follows the coast, approximately 25 kilometres starting in Malmö in the south. Lomma
Lomma () is a locality and the seat of Lomma Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. In 2020 it had 13,772 inhabitants. History Lomma was mentioned in a deed of Cnut the great under the name ''Lumaby'' in the year 1085. Skåne's cultural centre at the time was the plains surrounding Lund and Dalby known as Lundaslätten. Lomma was a natural port for customs, shipping and trade, owing to its location at the mouth of the river Höje å, which was the main transport link via to Uppåkra, Lund, Heddinge (now named Kyrkheddinge) and Dalby. Lomma had city status at this time, though it subsequently lost it in favour of Malmö. Until the construction of a bridge across the Höje å in 1682, there was a ferry across the river. Kävlinge
Kävlinge () is a locality and the seat of Kävlinge Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 32,341 inhabitants in 2021. In 1996, a train containing large amounts of ammonia derailed and around 9,000 people had to be evacuated from the area. This was the biggest evacuation operation in Swedish history. Near Kävlinge is the site of the Hög passage grave, a Bronze Age barrow covering a neolithic burial chamber. Hög means mound from the Old Norse word ''haugr'' for hill.
