Escuela Internacional Sampedrana, EIS is a private coeducational K-12 school located in the Lomas del Potosí neighborhood of San Pedro Sula, Cortés Department, Honduras. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). EIS is a member of ABSH (Association of Bilingual Schools of Honduras) and AASCA (Association of American Schools in Central America). EIS has 27 AASCA championships, between soccer, basketball, volleyball and track and field (T-third most). Faculty The faculty for EIS is composed of 40% Honduran teachers, 25% Canadian and 35% US teachers. All other staff that is not related to teaching is 95% Honduran and 5% International. All teachers at EIS have at minimum a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Facilities Separate buildings house the preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school students. San Pedro Sula
San Pedro Sula () is the capital of Cortés Department, Honduras. It is located in the northwest corner of the country in the Sula Valley, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Puerto Cortés on the Caribbean Sea. Honduras
Honduras, officially the Republic of Honduras, is a country in Central America. K-1 is a professional kickboxing promotion established in 1993, well known worldwide mainly for its heavyweight division fights and Grand Prix tournaments. In January 2012, K-1 Global Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, acquired the rights to K-1, and is the current organizer of K-1 events worldwide. Founded in 1993 by karateka Kazuyoshi Ishii, at its height in the late 90s and the 2000s under the ownership of the Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG), K-1 was the largest and most prestigious "Kickboxing" organization in the world. Cortés Department
Cortés is one of the 18 departments of Honduras. The department covers an area of 3,954 km² and, in 2015, had an estimated population of 1,612,762, making it the most populous in Honduras. The Merendón Mountains rise in western Cortés, but the department is mostly a tropical lowland, the Sula Valley, crossed by the Ulúa and Chamelecon rivers. It was created in 1893 from parts of the departments of Santa Bárbara and Yoro. The departmental capital is San Pedro Sula.
