Eric D. Brown
Lieutenant Colonel Eric D. Brown is a former commander of the 320th Missile Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. Biography Lieutenant Colonel Brown received his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1992. He has held various staff assignments within two wings, Headquarters Air Force Space Command, the Air Staff, and the Joint Staff, to include Chief of Space Launch Vehicles Branch, Air Force Space Command, and Chief of Strategic Guidance Branch and Political-Military Planner, Joint Staff. A three-time Guardian Challenge competitor, Lt Col Brown won the Blanchard Trophy for F.E. Warren AFB in 1996 and the Schriever Trophy for Patrick AFB in 2000. Lt Col Brown has also served as Executive Officer for three general officers, holds three master's degrees, and is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. 1st Space Launch Squadron
The United States Air Force's 1st Space Launch Squadron was a space launch unit located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. It was responsible for USAF Delta II launches from its activation in October 1990 to its inactivation in August 2009. History Air Force launch operations were transferred from Air Force Systems Command to Air Force Space Command in the early 1990s. Phase I of the Launch Transfer Plan began on 1 October 1990, with the redesignation of the Eastern and Western Space and Missile Centers, as the 30th and 45th Space Wings. The 90th Operations Group is the operational component of the 90th Missile Wing of the United States Air Force. It is stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, and is assigned to Twentieth Air Force of Air Force Global Strike Command. The United States Space Force's 392d Combat Training Squadron was an intercontinental ballistic missile training unit at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Its first predecessor was the 592d Bombardment Squadron, which trained aircrews on Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses during World War II. Its second predecessor was the 392d Missile Training Squadron, which conducted training, primarily for Royal Air Force launch crews, on the PGM-17 Thor missile at Vandenberg from 1958 to 1963. The 319th Missile Squadron is a United States Air Force unit assigned to the 90th Operations Group at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. The squadron is equipped with the LGM-30G Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, with a mission of nuclear deterrence. It is the flagship squadron of the 90th Missile Wing. The squadron was first activated as the 319th Bombardment Squadron in 1942. Launch Control Center (ICBM)
A launch control center (LCC), in the United States, is the main control facility for intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). A launch control center monitors and controls missile launch facilities. From a launch control center, the missile combat crew can monitor the complex, launch the missile, or relax in the living quarters (depending on the ICBM system). The LCC is designed to provide maximum protection for the missile combat crew and equipment vital to missile launch. Missile silos are common across the midwestern United States, and over 450 missiles remain in US Air Force (USAF) service. Due to modern conventional weapons, missile launch control centers are becoming rarer in the US, and it is expected that the number of missiles will stay at 450 Minuteman III.
