English Gardner (born April 22, 1992) is an American track and field sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter dash. Her personal best of 10.74 seconds, set in 2016, ranks her in the top ten all-time for the distance. Career She was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, where she graduated from Eastern Regional High School as part of the class of 2010. While running for the University of Oregon, in 2011 she set what should be the American junior record in the 100 meters at 11.03 (+0.6) set while winning the Pac-10 Championships. Her mark is superior to the listed record by Angela Williams from 1999, but that mark has not yet been ratified. Sprinting is running over a short distance at the top-most speed of the body in a limited period of time. The 100 metres, or 100-meter dash, is a sprint race in track and field competitions. 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Women's 100 Metres
The women's 100 metres at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 11–12 August and was won by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. In the first round, English Gardner won her third heat decisively in a time of 10.94 seconds. Others qualified for the semifinal round in up to 11.41 seconds. The semis were faster, since although the first was slowest at 11.08, the other two were won in under 11 seconds, with the fastest time qualifier Alexandria Anderson at 11.01. In the final, there was no doubt who would win as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce shot out of the block leaving nothing but a pink streak (hair and shoes) for her competitors to follow. Jeter's 10.94 was the same as Gardner's time in the heats. But Gardner only had 10.97 left for the final to miss a medal. Barbara Pierre
Barbara Pierre (born April 28, 1986) is a Haitian-born American track and field sprint athlete who competed internationally for the United States. Her specialty is the 60-meter dash and the 100-meter dash. She had her highest world ranking in 2013, when she was the fourth fastest sprinter in the world over 100 m with her personal best of 10.85 seconds. Pierre represented Haiti at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She competed at the 100 m sprint and placed fourth in her first round heat, which normally meant elimination. However, her time of 11.52 was among the ten fastest losing times, resulting in a second round spot. There she failed to qualify for the semi finals as her time of 11.56 was the fifth time of her race. The Oregon Ducks track and field program is the intercollegiate track and field team for the University of Oregon located in the U.S. state of Oregon.
