Engelhartszell an der Donau (Central Bavarian: ''Engöhoartszö'') is a municipality in the district of Schärding in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Geography Engelhartszell lies in the upper Danube valley in the Innviertel. About 57 percent of the municipality is forest, and 28 percent is farmland. Ingrid Nargang
Ingrid Nargang (17 April 1929 – 10 May 2019) was an Austrian lawyer, judge, and contemporary historian. From 1964 to 1993, she was head of the district court in Engelhartszell. She was the first woman to head a rural district court in the Judiciary of Austria. Biography Alice Ingrid Annemarie Nargang was born in Chernivtsi, Romania on 17 April 1929. She came from an old Austrian family of civil servants. Her great-grandfather was the classical philologist and high school director, Stefan Wolf; a grandfather was a lawyer. The family lived in Czernowitz in Bukovina, which until the end of World War I belonged to the Austrian monarchy as its own crown land, then fell to the Kingdom of Romania and is currently partly in Ukraine (including Chernivtsi). Innviertel
The Innviertel (literally German for "Inn Quarter"; officially called the ''Innkreis''; ) is a traditional Austrian region southeast of the Inn river. It forms the western part of the state of Upper Austria and borders the German state of Bavaria. The Innviertel is one of the four traditional "quarters" of Upper Austria, the others being Hausruckviertel, Mühlviertel, and Traunviertel. The Innviertel is the northwestern quarter of Upper Austria and includes the districts Braunau am Inn, Ried im Innkreis and Schärding. Since the formation of the political districts in 1868, the quarters in Upper Austria no longer have a legal basis and are purely regional names. Schärding ( , Bavarian name: Scharing) is a town in northern Austrian state of Upper Austria, the capital of the district of the same name, and a major port on the Inn River. Central Bavarian
Central Bavarian form a subgroup of Bavarian dialects in large parts of Austria and the German state of Bavaria along the Danube river, on the northern side of the Eastern Alps. They are spoken in the ' Old Bavarian' regions of Upper Bavaria (with Munich), Lower Bavaria and in the adjacent parts of the Upper Palatinate region around Regensburg, in Upper and Lower Austria, in Vienna (see Viennese German), in the state of Salzburg, as well as in the northern and eastern parts of Styria and Burgenland.
