Emmure
Emmure () is an American metalcore band formed in 2003. Originally based in New Fairfield, Connecticut, before moving to Queens, New York, the group has released eight albums, with their first public release being a 2006 EP entitled ''The Complete Guide to Needlework''. Victory Records has worked with the band throughout most of their career, starting with ''Goodbye to the Gallows'' (2007). Their second, third and fourth albums ''The Respect Issue'' (2008), ''Felony'' (2009) and ''Speaker of the Dead'' (2011) were all distributed through Victory as well. After the band's initial four-album contract with Victory expired, they signed again with Victory to distribute their fifth and sixth studio albums, ''Slave to the Game'' (2012) and ''Eternal Enemies'' (2014). However after nine years of being signed to the label, Emmure would leave Victory in 2016 to sign with SharpTone. ''Slave to the Game'' is the fifth studio album by American nu metalcore band Emmure, released on April 10, 2012 through Victory Records.VictorVTV (January 20, 2012). . Retrieved February 2, 2012. The record was produced by Joey Sturgis, who also did production on the band's previous album ''Speaker of the Dead''. It is the first album to feature drummer Mark Castillo, following the band parting ways with their former drummer Mike Kaabe in October 2011. '' Eternal Enemies ''is the sixth studio album from Emmure, released on April 15, 2014. It is the final album to feature drummer Mark Castillo after his departure less than 3 months after the album's release. It is also the final album to feature Jesse Ketive, Mark Davis, and Mike Mulholland after their departure on December 22, 2015. Background When the track listing for the album was released on February 18, 2014, the name of the first track, "Bring a Gun to School", sparked controversy. This resulted in their former guitarist Ben Lionetti making a statement with respect to his former ensemble and commenting on the track, calling lead vocalist Frankie Palmeri a "disgusting human being". He reportedly considered filing legal action against Emmure, their record label and their management to retrieve the money that is due to him and his brother Joe, a former drummer of the band. ''Look at Yourself'' is the seventh studio album by American band Emmure. It is the first album to feature the new line-up with Joshua Travis, Phil Lockett, and Josh Miller. The album was released on March 3, 2017, through SharpTone Records. In October 2016, Emmure released "Torch", the first single from the album, with "Russian Hotel Aftermath" following two months later. Following the release of the album, some versions no longer feature the audio sample at the beginning of the track "Flag of the Beast" due to the band being unable to get clearance and permission to use it, as the band confirmed themselves via a comment on the track-by-track video of the song. ''Goodbye to the Gallows'' is the debut full-length studio album by Emmure, released through Victory Records in the UK on March 5, 2007, and in the US on March 6. A vinyl reissue of the album was also released by Victory in 2013. The two guitarists on this release play 7 strings in Drop A# tuning (Drop Bb), which makes this and ''The Respect Issue'' the only Emmure albums to feature these tunings. ''The Respect Issue'' is the second album by American metalcore band Emmure. The album was released on May 13, 2008, with pre-orders available on March 11. Kurt Angle, professional wrestler and former Olympic wrestler, is featured as a boxer on the cover art and throughout the inlay. Angle also wore an Emmure shirt during broadcasts of ''TNA Impact!'' in promotion of the album. ''Felony'' is the third studio album by American metalcore group Emmure under the Victory Records label. It was released on August 18, 2009. The album debuted at #60 on the Billboard Top 200 selling roughly 8,000 copies in its first week. ''Felony'' is also the first album to feature new members Mike Mulholland on guitar and Mike Kaabe on drums, replacing founding members Ben and Joe Lionetti, respectively. Inspiration and musical style Inspiration The album is allegedly inspired by a real event in which vocalist Frankie Palmeri assaulted his best friend by " ittinghim in the head with a bottle", which resulted in Palmeri being arrested.
