Emmanuel Larcenet
Emmanuel Larcenet, known as Manu Larcenet (born May 6, 1969) is a French cartoonist. He worked with Fluide Glacial magazine from 1995 to 2006 and with '' Spirou'' magazine from 1997 to 2004. He has also founded the French publisher Les Rêveurs in 1998. Since 2000, he mostly works with Dargaud. Biography Emmanuel Larcenet, also known as Manu Larcenet, was born in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Hauts-de-Seine, France. He studied graphic art at the Sèvres lycée and then went on to art school. While spending time as a singer in a punk-rock band, he published his first drawings in comics and rock fanzines. In October 1994, he was published in the French magazine Fluide Glacial (issue #220) with ''L'Expert comptable de la jungle'', a first story rapidly followed by other complete ones, and republished later in comic books, in the series ''Soyons fous'', ''La Loi des séries'' and ''Bill Baroud''. Joann Sfar
Joann Sfar (; born 28 August 1971) is a French comics artist, comic book creator, novelist, and film director. Life and career Sfar was born in Nice, the son of Lilou, a pop singer, who died when he was three, and André Sfar, a lawyer well known for prosecuting Neo-Nazis. As a result of his mother's early death, Sfar was raised by his father and maternal grandfather, a military doctor of Ukrainian origin in the Alsace-Lorraine Independent Brigade (France) during World War II. Sfar's grandfather reportedly saved the right hand of the brigade's leader, novelist André Malraux, for which he was awarded French citizenship. ''Dungeon'' ( French title: ''Donjon'') is a series of comic fantasy comic books created by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim, with contributions from numerous other artists. It was originally published in France by Delcourt as a series of graphic albums; English translations of a large amount of stories have been released by NBM Publishing, first in a black-and-white periodical version and now as several color graphic novels. The series is a parody of sword and sorcery conventions in general, and specifically of the role-playing game ''Dungeons and Dragons''. All of the characters are either anthropomorphic animals or other strange creatures.
