Emilse Longo
Emilse Raponi Longo (born December 19, 1957) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Biography Tennis career Longo began competing on the professional tour in 1978, as Emilse Raponi. She had early success at her home tournament, the 1978 River Plate Championships, making it through to a WTA Tour final in her first season. En route she upset top seed Regina Maršíková, but was unable to get past Caroline Stoll in the final. In 1979 she made her debut for Argentina's Fed Cup team and went on to feature in a total of 11 ties for her native country. From 1980 to 1982 she appeared in only one WTA Tour tournament, but returned to the circuit in 1983. At the 1983 US Open she came up against top seed Martina Navratilova in the opening round and was comfortably beaten. Helen Elizabeth "Betsy" Nagelsen McCormack (born October 23, 1956) is an American former professional tennis player. Career Nagelsen was the world's top junior in 1973. She won the 1973 U.S. Champion Girls' 16 and under singles. She also won the USTA Girls' Sportsmanship Award in 1974. As a professional, she won the doubles championship at the 1978 and 1980 Australian Opens (with Renáta Tomanová and Martina Navratilova, respectively), and reached the singles final of the 1978 Australian Open, losing to Christine O'Neil. Japan Open (tennis)
The Japan Open (currently sponsored by Rakuten) is a men's tennis tournament held in Ariake Tennis Forest Park with its center court Ariake Coliseum, located in Koto, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally founded in 1915 as the Japan International Championships. In 2018, the venue switched to the Musashino Forest Sports Plaza as the Ariake Coliseum is being renovated for the tennis events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The championship includes men's singles and doubles competitions. From 1979 until 2008 the Japan Open was a joint tournament for both men and women. This is no longer the case in the aftermath of the Ariake Coliseum hosting another women's professional tournament, the Pan Pacific Open. Ronni Reis (sometimes spelled Ronnie Reis; also Ronni Reis-Bernstein) (born May 10, 1966) is an American former tennis player. Reis won three gold medals at the 1985 Maccabiah Games in Israel, the doubles bronze medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games, and the doubles gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games. Reis played for the Miami Hurricanes at the University of Miami, where she won the NCAA doubles tournament in 1986 and was named the NCAA Senior Player of the Year in 1988. The WTA Argentine Open is a WTA-affiliated tennis tournament initially played from 1929 to 1987 and restarted in 2021.
