The Embassy of Zimbabwe in Washington, D.C. is the Zimbabwe's diplomatic mission to the United States. It is located at 1608 New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest, Washington, D.C., in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Tadeous Tafirenyika Chifamba was appointed ambassador to the US in October 2020 by Zimbabwe's president Emmerson Mnangagwa. Building Constructed in 1917, the former private residence (past owners include Frederick Albion Ober-) was purchased by the Zimbabwe government in 1990 (previous occupant was the Institute for Soviet-American Relations). It is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District, and valued at $6,088,460. New Hampshire Avenue
New Hampshire Avenue is a diagonal street in Washington, D.C., beginning at the Kennedy Center and extending northeast for about 5 miles (8 km) and then continuing into Maryland where it is designated Maryland Route 650. New Hampshire Avenue, however, is not contiguous. It stops at 15th and W Streets NW and resumes again on the other side of Columbia Heights at Park Road NW, a few blocks from Georgia Avenue. New Hampshire Avenue passes through several Washington neighborhoods including Foggy Bottom, Dupont Circle, Petworth and Lamond-Riggs. In Maryland, New Hampshire Avenue passes the neighborhoods and towns of Chillum, Takoma Park, Carole Highlands, Langley Park and Silver Spring. Zimbabwe (), officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is a landlocked country located in Southeast Africa, between the Zambezi and Limpopo Rivers, bordered by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the south-west, Zambia to the north, and Mozambique to the east. A diplomatic mission or foreign mission is a group of people from a state or organization present in another state to represent the sending state or organization officially in the receiving or host state. Emmerson Mnangagwa
Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa (, American English, US: (); born 15 September 1942) is a Zimbabwean politician who has served as President of Zimbabwe since 24 November 2017. A member of ZANU–PF and a longtime ally of former President Robert Mugabe, he held a series of cabinet portfolios and was Mugabe's Vice-President of Zimbabwe, Vice President until November 2017, when he was dismissed before coming to power in 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état, a coup d'état. He secured his first full term as president in the disputed 2018 Zimbabwean general election, 2018 general election. Mnangagwa was born in 1942 in Zvishavane, Shabani, Southern Rhodesia, to a large Shona people, Shona family. Frederick Albion Ober (February 13, 1849 - May 31, 1913) was an American naturalist and writer. Biography Ober was born February 13, 1849, in Beverly, Massachusetts. He received a common school education. While yet a boy, he evinced a fondness for natural history: he collected nearly all the birds of New England and noted their habits. From 1862 to 1866 he had an occupation as shoemaker. Subsequently, he attended the Massachusetts Agricultural College (now the University of Massachusetts Amherst) but due to the lack of funds he was forced to leave the college after a short time. From 1867 to 1870 he worked as employee in a drugstore and again as shoemaker. In 1872, he abandoned his business pursuits to hunt in Florida.
