The Elisabethschule is a Gymnasium (school), Gymnasium in Marburg. History The Elisabethschule was founded in 1879 as Höhere Töchterschule. It was a school only for girls in this time. The first school building was located in the Universitätsstraße in the centre of Marburg. During the 1950s the new building in the Leopold-Lucas-Straße in Marburg Ockershausen was established. Since 1969 also boys were allowed to attend the school. Between 1936 and 1938 all jewish school girls and teachers were forced to leave the school. In 1993 a memorial was established in the form of a star of David for the 66 jewish victims of the school (pupils and teachers) caused by the Nazi regime. Foreign languages The first foreign language is English language, English starting in 5th grade. In the 6th grade French language, French or Latin is offered and in the 8th grade the student can choose another modern language like Spanish language, Spanish. Roland Suso Richter
Roland Suso Richter (born January 7, 1961 in Marburg) is a German film director and producer. Biography Richter was born in Marburg and lived there until making his Abitur in 1980 at the local Elisabethschule. Wanting to pursue a film career, he worked as an intern for video productions and as an actor on stage. In 1982, he appeared as an extra in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's '' Veronika Voss''. A year later, he and actor Frank Röth produced their first film, ', which was released in 1985. Many TV films followed until '' 14 Days to Life'' was released in 1997, earning Richter favorable reviews. The 1999 film ''After the Truth'', a fictional account of an 80-year-old Josef Mengele's trial before a German court, did not receive funding from the German film foundation due to its controversial theme.
