''El Ecologista'' is a Spanish quarterly magazine with a special focus on environment which is owned by Ecologistas en Acción based in Madrid, Spain. It has been in circulation since 1999. History and profile ''El Ecologista'' was launched by Ecologistas en Acción in 1999. Its first issue was numbered 17 to reflect the fact that it was the continuation of a magazine with the same name which was established in 1979. The headquarters of ''El Ecologista'' is in Madrid. The magazine is published on a quarterly basis and covers articles on climate, biodiversity, genetic engineering, forest, energy, pollution, radioactive waste, transports and natural resources. Ecologistas En Acción
Ecologistas en Acción ( es, Ecologistas en Acción, sometimes Ecologistas en Acción-CODA) is a Spanish grassroots confederation of 300 ecological groups, founded on December 9, 1998. Ecologistas en Acción is aligned with the philosophy of social ecology, which regards all environmental problems (and many other social ones) as proceeding from the same source: an increasingly globalised sustainability. Following this line of reasoning, the model of production and consumption needs to be changed in order to solve the ecological crisis. Biodiversity or biological diversity is the variety and variability of life on Earth. Biodiversity is a measure of variation at the genetic (''genetic variability''), species (''species diversity''), and ecosystem (''ecosystem diversity'') level. Genetic engineering, also called genetic modification or genetic manipulation, is the modification and manipulation of an organism's genes using technology. It is a set of technologies used to change the genetic makeup of cells, including the transfer of genes within and across species boundaries to produce improved or novel organisms. Radioactive waste is a type of hazardous waste that contains radioactive material. Radioactive waste is a result of many activities, including nuclear medicine, nuclear research, nuclear power generation, rare-earth mining, and nuclear weapons reprocessing. The storage and disposal of radioactive waste is regulated by government agencies in order to protect human health and the environment. A biophysical environment is a biotic and abiotic surrounding of an organism or population, and consequently includes the factors that have an influence in their survival, development, and evolution.
