Edgaras Ulanovas
Edgaras Ulanovas (born January 7, 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. He primarily plays at the small forward position. Professional career On 25 April 2014, Ulanovas was named the Co-VTB United League Young Player of the Year, along with Dmitry Kulagin. In 2017, he was named the MVP of the 2017 King Mindaugas Cup, and also the MVP of the 2017 LKL Finals. In 2019, Ulanovas was named the LKL Finals MVP for a second time in his career. In 2020, Ulanovas was named MVP of the 2020 King Mindaugas Cup. On 9 July 2020, Ulanovas transferred to the Turkish EuroLeague powerhouse Fenerbahçe, after a full decade with Žalgiris. During his first game as a member of the new team in the EuroLeague, Ulanovas was one of the team leaders by scoring 13 points, and helped his team to achieve a 77–63 season opening victory versus the KK Crvena zvezda. BC Žalgiris
Basketball Club Žalgiris ( lt, Krepšinio klubas Žalgiris) is a professional basketball team that is based in Kaunas, Lithuania, and competes domestically in the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL, Lithuanian Basketball League). Founded in 1944, it is one of the oldest teams in the EuroLeague. Žalgiris is one of 11 European clubs to hold long-term licenses with the EuroLeague, which provides a guaranteed place in the regular-season phase of this league. Since the 2011–12 season, Žalgiris plays its home games in Žalgiris Arena, which was built just before EuroBasket 2011. The club's name commemorates the victorious ''Battle of Žalgiris'' (Battle of Grunwald). Both ''Žalgiris'' and ''Grunwald'' translate to "green wood". 2017 Karaliaus Mindaugo Taurė
The 2017 Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė, also known as KIDY Tour – Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė for sponsorship purposes, was the second edition of the Lithuanian King Mindaugas Cup. On 18 February 2016 it was announced that Kaunas would host the tournament. Lietuvos rytas were the defending champion, but were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Juventus. Žalgiris won their first title, beating Lietkabelis 84–63 in the final. Juventus won bronze medals, defeating Vytautas. Žalgiris forward Edgaras Ulanovas was awarded as MVP of the tournament. Format changes Tournament format was slightly changed before 2017. Quarterfinals were separated from final matches and played in home team arenas. 2015 LKL All-Star Game
The annual 2015 LKL All-Star Game, was held on March 29, in Vilnius. The format was different from the previous contests: one team – Amžini Priešininkai – consisted of the best players from the two rivaling teams of Žalgiris and Lietuvos rytas, and the other team – LKL Žvaigždės – consisted of the best players from the rest of the LKL teams. Teams ** Former Žalgiris and Lietuvos rytas members, Grigorij Khizhnyak and Andrius Šležas, respectively, appeared in the game, as a surprise to the spectators. While a member of Žalgiris, Khizhnyak led the EuroLeague in blocks per game, and otherwise led the team in points and rebounds. LKL All-Star Game
The LKL All-Star Game is the All-Star Game of the professional Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). The game is held once every year. The participants of the game are chosen in two ways: the first is via fan ballot, with the leading vote recipients at each position starting the game; secondly the reserves are chosen by a vote among the head coaches of each squad. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players. If a player is injured, and cannot participate, the league's commissioner will select a replacement. Features The All-Star Game is played under normal FIBA rules, but there are notable differences from an average game. LKF Cup
The LKF Cup was an annual national domestic cup competition for Lithuanian professional basketball teams. It was organised by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija - LKF). The competition's full name was Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija Taurė (English: Lithuanian Basketball Federation Cup). Before 2007, the LKF Cup wasn't held regularly, but after that, its finals were organised every January, February, or March. Between 2007 and 2014, the competition was played between teams from the LKL, the NKL, and the RKL. In 2015, the LKF decided to change the competition format, and it was then played between the top eight qualified teams of the LKL, after the first half of the season.
