Ed Warby
Edward R. Warby (born 7 March 1968) is a Dutch musician, best known as the drummer for death metal band Gorefest and progressive rock/metal project Ayreon. He also appeared in the band Agressor in 1982 and joined the Eindhoven-based metal band Elegy in 1987. Warby moved to Gorefest in 1992, where he replaced the former drummer just before the recording sessions of "False", he had to learn all themes and develop his work in just two weeks, which he managed to achieve in a matter so fast that producer Colin Richardson nicknamed him ''Fast Eddy''. After Gorefest split up in 1999, he took part in the re-united Gorefest in 2004. In 1998, Arjen Anthony Lucassen asked Warby to perform on his album ''Into the Electric Castle'', because Arjen was impressed with Warby's works with Gorefest. From that moment on, Warby had performed on Ayreon's every album, except for '' Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer'' and ''Transitus''. He also performed on the re-recording of ''Actual Fa ...

Ribspreader
Ribspreader is a Swedish death metal band. History Ribspreader was formed in January 2003 by Rogga Johansson and Andreas Karlsson, both also of Paganizer. The band's debut album featured Swedish musician and producer Dan Swanö on drums and lead guitar. Johansson is a prolific musician within the death metal genre, and Ribspreader's 2018 album ''The Van Murders: Part 2'' is considered by some to be one of his more versatile and melodic projects, making it more accessible to listeners who are not strictly fans of the genre. Critical praise for 2019's ''Crawl and Slither'' was also high, with the album leading some to claim Ribspreader as Johansson's best band. Others, however, have considered Ripspreader to be nearly indistinct from his other projects, even claiming that the band stands out less because of its close adherence to the norms of Swedish death metal. Members Current * Roger "Rogga" Johansson – vocals, rhythm guitar, bass (2002–2014, 2016–present) * Taylor Nor ...

Death Growl
A death growl, or simply growl, is an extended vocal technique usually employed in extreme styles of music, particularly in death metal and other extreme subgenres of heavy metal music. Death growl vocals are sometimes criticized for their "ugliness", but their unintelligibility contributes to death metal's abrasive style and often dark and obscene subject matter.Sharpe-Young, Garry. ''Death Metal'', Definition Death metal, in particular, is associated with growled vocals; it tends to be lyrically and thematically darker and more morbid than other forms of metal, and features vocals which attempt to evoke chaos, death, and misery by being "usually very deep, guttural, and unintelligible." Natalie Purcell notes, "Although the vast majority of death metal bands use very low, beast-like, almost indiscernible growls as vocals, many also have high and screechy or operatic vocals, or simply deep and forcefully-sung vocals."Purcell, Natalie J. ''Death Metal Music:The Passion and ...

Gothic Metal
Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. Lyrics are generally dark and introspective with inspiration from gothic fiction as well as personal experiences. Pioneers of gothic metal include Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema, all from the north of England. Other pioneers from the first half of the 1990s include Type O Negative from the United States, Lake of Tears, Tiamat and Katatonia from Sweden, and the Gathering from the Netherlands. Norwegian band Theatre of Tragedy developed the "beauty and the beast" aesthetic of combining aggressive male vocals with clean female vocals, a contrast that had been adopted by ...

Love Like Blood (band)
Love Like Blood was a German gothic rock band. The band's name comes from the song of the same name by English post-punk band Killing Joke. Biography Its nucleus consists of the Eysel brothers Yorck (vocals, lyrics) and Gunnar ( bass). The band was active from 1989 to 2001 and is now on (indefinite) hiatus. Its early sound reminisces the style of Fields of the Nephilim. They made their breakthrough with the 1992 album ''An Irony of Fate'', which marked the debut of English guitarist Mark Wheeler. This album showcased a transition to a more hard rock-influenced style. In the mid-1990s, Love Like Blood turned to gothic metal with the album ''Exposure''. On their 2000 album, ''Enslaved + Condemned'', Love Like Blood made a rendition of Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry's song " Seven Seconds", giving the pop song a more ragged, metal-oriented sound. In January 2010, it was announced that Love Like Blood would be performing live for the "first and only" time since 1999 at t ...

Lost In The New Real
''Lost in the New Real'' (also referred to as ''Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Lost in the New Real'') is the second solo studio album by Dutch songwriter, producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen, released on 23 April 2012. It is Lucassen's first solo album since 1993's '' Pools of Sorrow, Waves of Joy'', released 18 years earlier under the name Anthony, before he reached fame with his progressive metal/ rock opera project Ayreon. Lucassen wrote all the songs, sings lead vocals and performs most instruments himself, including all guitars, bass and keyboards. As with Ayreon, it is a concept album. It follows the story of Mr. L (voiced by Lucassen), a modern-day man revived in a distant future where everything has changed. Although the story is not a part of the Ayreon storyline, it is set within the same fictional universe: the character of Mr. L had previously appeared in the song "The Truth is in Here" from ''01011001'', while the cover art includes the Dre ...

It is the only Ayreon release that does not feature a single overarching story concept, but instead draws on science fiction and fantasy films for inspiration, as well as stories written by Arjen himself. In 2004, Arjen moved to a new record label, Inside Out Germany. With this move came re-issues of all previous Ayreon releases, including ''Actual Fantasy''. The re-issue came with a bonus DVD featuring a 5.1 remix of the entire original album, a video clip for "The Stranger from Within," and a video featurette showing the 2004 recordings of drums, bass, and guitar for the remix. ''Actual Fantasy: Revisited'' After remixing "Star Child" from his Star One album '' Space Metal'' in Pro Logic, and "Day 11: Love" from ''The Human Equation'' in 5.1, Arjen was very motivated and excited about making an entire album in 5.1. With a switch ...

Transitus
In Western Christianity, the Transitus (''translation'' from Ecclesiastical Latin: crossing) refers to "the time of passage through death to life".
