Ed Stokes
Edward Kobie Stokes (born September 3, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player, who played at the center position. Stokes attended the University of Arizona. During his collegiate career, he scored 984 points, grabbed 644 rebounds and blocked 167 shots. He was selected by the Miami Heat in the 1993 NBA draft (second round, 35th pick overall). Stokes started his professional career in Greece, playing for Panionios BC. He went on to represent Stefanel Milano, Aris Thessaloniki, Titanes de Morovis (Puerto Rico), Telemarket Roma, Toronto Raptors, Pistoia Olimpia, Keravnos (Cyprus), FC Porto, Libertad de Sunchales, STB Le Havre and Crabs Rimini. In the NBA, the rights to Stokes and Jeff Webster were traded by the Heat to the Washington Bullets in 1995 for Rex Chapman and Terrence Rencher, but he was released without appearing for the team in any regular season games. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. FIBA Under-19 World Championship
The FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-19 World Championship) is the under-19 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The 1993 NBA draft took place on June 30, 1993, at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The draft had some talented players at the top, but injuries and personal problems hurt many of them. Chris Webber, Penny Hardaway, Allan Houston, and Jamal Mashburn were All-Stars whose careers were cut short by injuries.
