Ed Kaeding
Edgar Ernest Kaeding (June 16, 1920 – January 4, 2015) was a farmer and former political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Saltcoats from 1971 to 1982 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member. He was born in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan Churchbridge is a town in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, located at the junction of the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16), and Highway 80. Churchbridge is a part of the rural municipality of Churchbridge 211, which is located within Sask ..., the son of Emil E. Kaeding, a native of Germany. Kaeding served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Agriculture, as Minister of Municipal Affairs and as Minister of Rural Affairs. He was defeated by Walt Johnson when he ran for reelection to the Saskatchewan assembly in 1982. After leaving provincial politics, Kaeding served as administrator for the town of Churchbridge. Saltcoats (provincial Electoral District)
Saltcoats was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, centred on the town of Saltcoats. One of 25 districts created before the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905, it was abolished before the 8th Saskatchewan general election in 1934. The district was reconstituted before the 1938 election and abolished in 2003 into Canora-Pelly and Melville-Saltcoats. It is now part of the constituency of Melville-Saltcoats. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Saskatchewan New Democratic Party
The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. History Precursors The origins of the party began as early as 1902. In that year a group of farmers created the Territorial Grain Growers' Association. The objective of this group was to lobby for farmer's rights with the grain trade and the railways. The name was changed to the Saskatchewan Grain Growers' Association (SGGA) when Saskatchewan became a province in 1905. Churchbridge, Saskatchewan
Churchbridge is a town in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, located at the junction of the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16), and Highway 80. Churchbridge is a part of the rural municipality of Churchbridge 211, which is located within Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) Division No. 1 and census division Number 5. History Churchbridge began with the arrival of settlers from the Anglican Colonization Society, with director and missionary Reverend Robert Bridger. The village of Churchbridge was incorporated in 1903 with James Heasman as the overseer. He was solely responsible for the affairs of the village. There was no council, but M. Thorlakson and A.O. Berger, both hotel keepers, were trustees, which meant they made themselves responsible for the honesty and integrity of the overseer in his financial duties. Walter Robert Johnson
Walter Robert Johnson (September 27, 1927 – February 19, 1994) was a farmer, rancher and political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Saltcoats from 1982 to 1991 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Progressive Conservative. He was born in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan in 1927, the son of Julius G. Johnson and Laura S. Thoradson. In 1952, Johnson married Dorothea Elaine Olson.
