East Jersey Olde Towne Village
East Jersey Old Town Village (also spelled East Jersey Olde Towne Village) is an open-air museum located in Johnson Park in Piscataway, New Jersey. The Village is a collection of Raritan Valley area historic buildings and includes original, reconstructed, and replicated 18th and 19th century vernacular architecture typical of farm and merchant communities of Central Jersey. It is home to a permanent exhibition about Raritan Landing, an 18th-century inland port once located just downstream on the river. Since 1989, the Middlesex County Office of Arts and History has had responsibility for the village. An open-air museum (or open air museum) is a museum that exhibits collections of buildings and artifacts out-of-doors. It is also frequently known as a museum of buildings or a folk museum. Monmouth County Historical Association
The Monmouth County Historical Association was established in 1898 by a group of county residents headed by professional educator Caroline Gallup Reed. They soon incorporated in order “to discover, procure, preserve and perpetuate whatever relates to the history of Monmouth County.” In 1931, the present Museum and Library, a brick Georgian-style building designed by architect J. Hallam Conover, was constructed in Freehold, the county seat of Monmouth County, New Jersey. Road Up Raritan Historic District
The Road Up Raritan Historic District is a historic district located along River Road in the township of Piscataway in Middlesex County, New Jersey. With It is north of Raritan Landing, once an important inland port on the Raritan River during the 18th and 19th centuries. The name is taken from an earlier colonial era name for what was once a Lenape path, Assunpink Trail that became a main road parallel to the river. Ephraim Fitz-Randolph House
The Ephraim Fitz-Randolph House is a historic house located at 430 S. Randolphville Road in the Randolphville section of Piscataway in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Built in 1825, it was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1936. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 1973, for its significance in architecture. With History and description Benjamin F. Randolph, originally Fitz-Randolph, emigrated from England in 1684. His son Moleson settled in Middlesex County. Cornelius Low House
The Cornelius Low House (also called Ivy Hall) is a Georgian manor in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, built in 1741 at Raritan Landing. The Cornelius Low House is listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places. The house currently holds the Cornelius Low House/Middlesex County Museum. History Cornelius Low, Jr. Cornelius Low Jr. (c. 1700–1777) was the third of fifteen children. His grandfather, Peter Cornellessen Low, left Holland for the American colonies in 1659 and settled near Kingston, New York. Peter's eldest son, Cornelius Low, moved to New York and established himself as a merchant. He married Margareta Van Borsum in 1695. Pluckemin, New Jersey
Pluckemin is an unincorporated community located within Bedminster Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. It was also known historically as Pluckamin. It was the site of several historic events during the American Revolutionary War. Demographics History After the victory at Princeton, General George Washington and his army camped nearby from January 4 to 6, 1777 on the march to Morristown. On January 5, General Washington set up his headquarters in a local Pluckemin house, which later became known as the John Fenner House, and wrote his battle report to John Hancock. He also ordered military honors for the battle death of British Captain William Leslie, a friend of the American Dr. Benjamin Rush.
