Brenda Vineyard Runyon
Brenda Vineyard Runyon (1868–1929), founder and director of the First Woman's Bank of Tennessee in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1919. The bank was the first bank in the United States to be managed and directed entirely by women. Ms Runyon resigned her position in 1926 due to failing health and was unable to secure a successor. The First Trust and Savings Bank of Clarksville absorbed the bank in 1926. Ms. Runyon was the wife of a Clarksville physician Dr. Frank Runyon. Both doctor and Ms Runyon were born in Trenton, Todd County, Kentucky. They had two sons, both pursued professional careers. Fort Runyon
Fort Runyon was a timber and earthwork fort constructed by the Union Army following the occupation of northern Virginia in the American Civil War in order to defend the southern approaches to the Long Bridge as part of the defenses of Washington, D.C. during that war. The Columbia Turnpike and Alexandria and Loudon Railroad ran through the pentagonal structure, which controlled access to Washington via the Long Bridge. The Timpe and Runyon classification of nontuberculous mycobacteria based on the rate of growth, production of yellow pigment and whether this pigment was produced in the dark or only after exposure to light. Damon Runyon Stakes
The Damon Runyon Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race operated by the New York Racing Association (NYRA) at its Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, Queens. First run in 1979, the annual event is currently contested on dirt over a distance of 7 furlongs. Restricted to horses bred in New York State, it was usually run in the late fall or early winter and open for two-year-olds only until 2020. With no race in 2019, those two-year-olds who turned three in 2020 competed when it was run on March 15th. One of a series of NYRA races for New York-bred horses, it is an important part of maintaining the significant breeding industry in that state. The race is named for Damon Runyon, a famous sports reporter and short story writer who created a Broadway all his own during the Twenties and Thirties. Runyon Lake
Runyon Lake (formerly known as Fountain Lakes) is located in Pueblo, Colorado. It was originally used as a dredge pond for the Colorado Fuel and Iron, Rocky Mountain Steel Mill, it is approximately 35 acres in size, and is fed by the Arkansas River. It is used solely for fishing and is stocked by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Boating is restricted to hand launched craft under 15 feet in length (including float tubes and personal pontoons). Boats may be propelled by hand, wind, or electric motors only. Ice fishing, swimming, open fires and camping are all prohibited. Fish Runyon Lake is home to several different fish species. Included species are white crappie, green sunfish, bluegill, black bullhead, saugeye, channel catfish, large mouth bass and rainbow trout. The lake has previously held the record in Colorado for the biggest catfish catch. The catfish was 38.5 inches long and weighed 29.5 pounds. Runyon Heights, also known as the area of Nepperhan, is a historically African American middle-class neighborhood in northwestern Yonkers, New York, US. Runyon Heights can be found along the north side of Tuckahoe Road between Saw Mill River Parkway and New York State Thruway. Noteworthy locations include Saint Mary's Cemetery and Kardash Park. Runyon, New Jersey
The Runyon Watershed is a reservoir system located in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey just south of Sayreville. It is operated by the Middlesex Water Company. The watershed area was first established in the late 1800 when it was purchased by the city of Perth Amboy, which developed a reservoir and waterworks in the 1920s, and turned over management to the company in 2003. Runyon Canyon Park is a park in Los Angeles, California, at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, managed by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The southern entrance to the park is located at the north end of Fuller Avenue in Hollywood. The northern entrance is off the 7300 block of Mulholland Drive. The Runyon Canyon Road, a fire road that is closed to public motor vehicle access, runs roughly through the center of the park between the northern and southern entrances along Runyon Canyon itself, and there are numerous smaller hiking trails throughout the park. Brent Runyon
Brent Runyon (or Brenner) (born 1977) is a contemporary writer for young adults. He has written three books. The first is a memoir, '' The Burn Journals'' (2004); the other two are novels, ''Maybe'' (2006), and ''Surface Tension: A Novel in Four Summers'' (2009). ''The Burn Journals'' has been nominated for a Georgia Peach Award for Young Readers. Runyon was 14 years old when he attempted to kill himself. He did this by undressing, pouring gasoline on his robe, putting his robe on, and setting his robe on fire. He suffered third-degree-burns on 85% of his body.
