EMP2 Platform
The EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform) is a modular car platform which is jointly developed and used by French car manufacturer PSA Group (merged into Stellantis since 2021) for compact and mid-size cars with front wheel drive or four wheel drive and transverse engine. It replaces the PF2 and PF3 platforms in one combined modular platform, and cost PSA €630 million to develop. Specification The EMP2 platform is highly modular, with a choice of short and long wheelbase, low or high riding height, and a choice of independent multi-link or twisted-beam rear suspension. Comparing to the predecessor PF2, the platform reduces the weight by 70 kg using very high strength steel, aluminum and magnesium alloys, and composite materials. The first vehicles to use the platform are the 2013 Citroen C4 Picasso (second generation), and the Peugeot 308 (second generation). The later iteration of the EMP2 has a degree of flexibility which allows four different track widths, five differ ...

Twisted-beam Rear Suspension
The twist-beam rear suspension (also torsion-beam axle, deformable torsion beam or compound crank) is a type of automobile suspension based on a large H or C-shaped member. The front of the H attaches to the body via rubber bushings, and the rear of the H carries each stub-axle assembly, on each side of the car. The cross beam of the H holds the two trailing arms together, and provides the roll stiffness of the suspension, by twisting as the two trailing arms move vertically, relative to each other. Functioning The coil springs usually bear on a pad alongside the stub-axle. Often the shock is colinear with the spring forming a coil-over. In many cases the damper is also used as a restraint strap to stop the arm descending so far that the coil spring falls out through being completely unloaded. This location gives a high motion ratio compared with most suspensions, improving performance. The longitudinal location of the cross beam controls important parameters of the suspen ...

Opel Grandland
The Opel Grandland is a compact crossover SUV which is produced by the German manufacturer Opel and its British twin-sister brand Vauxhall. It was originally known as the Opel and Vauxhall Grandland X when it was introduced to the markets. It was introduced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show as the replacement for the Opel Antara. It also replaced the Opel Zafira MPV in August 2019, and is currently sold in Europe and South Africa. Overview Plans for the Grandland X were known as early as May 2012, before PSA Peugeot Citroën officially indicated in December of that year that it would build the eventual replacement for the Zafira. Opel started taking orders for the Grandland X in June 2017, and more than 100,000 orders were made by September 2018. The Grandland is based on the PSA EMP2 platform which is shared with related models which include the Peugeot 3008 II, Peugeot 5008 II, DS 7 Crossback The DS 7 Crossback, now known as simply the DS 7, is a compact luxury cross ...

DS 7 Crossback
The DS 7 Crossback, now known as simply the DS 7, is a compact luxury crossover SUV from the French automaker DS Automobiles. The vehicle was presented for the first time on 28 February 2017, and its public premiere was at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. The DS7, like the Citroën C5 Aircross, is based on the EMP2 platform of Groupe PSA. Though not the first SUV for and from the brand (see DS 6), it is the first SUV for Europe. Overview The DS7 was revealed to the press on 28 February 2017, before being shown to the public at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and marketed in January 2018 for diesel versions. Positioning With the DS 5 in 2011 being the last new model launched by DS Automobiles in Europe, its overall sales have been affected, falling in recent years. As well as improving sales, the DS 7 Crossback was more comfortable, with build quality and technologies (driving aids, semi-autonomous driving) also improved. Plug-in Hybrid
A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is a hybrid electric vehicle whose battery pack can be recharged by plugging a charging cable into an external electric power source, in addition to internally by its on-board internal combustion engine-powered generator. Most PHEVs are passenger cars, but there are also PHEV versions of commercial vehicles and vans, utility trucks, buses, trains, motorcycles, mopeds, and even military vehicles. Similar to all-electric vehicles (BEVs), PHEVs displace greenhouse gas emissions from the car tailpipe exhaust to the power station generators powering the electricity grid. These centralized generators may be of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind or hydroelectric) and largely emission-free, or have an overall lower emission intensity than individual internal combustion engines. Compared to conventional hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), PHEVs have a larger battery pack that can be charged from the power grid, which is also more efficient ...

Mild Hybrid
Mild hybrids (also known as power-assist hybrids, battery-assisted hybrid vehicles or BAHVs) are generally cars with an internal combustion engine equipped with an electric machine (one motor/generator in a parallel hybrid configuration) allowing the engine to be turned off whenever the car is coasting, braking, or stopped, and then quickly restarted once power is again required. Mild hybrids may employ regenerative braking and some level of power assist to the internal combustion engine (ICE), but mild hybrids do not have an electric-only mode of propulsion. Overview The mild hybrid's electric motor provides greater efficiency through the use of a single device that is essentially an integrated starter/alternator sometimes known as a generator-motor unit. A typical mild-hybrid setup uses a belt-powered generator-motor unit driven off the engine to supply power to a small battery. The generator is also powered through regenerative braking, enabling power that would otherwise be dis ...

The Dongfeng Fengshen A9 is an executive sedan produced by Dongfeng Motor Corporation under the Dongfeng Fengshen sub-brand. The Dongfeng Fengshen A9 sedan was previewed by the Dongfeng Number 1 sedan concept during the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. History The production version of the Fengshen A9 debuted during the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, and was originally planned to be available to the market from April 2016. The A9 was postponed to be launched in July 2016 with prices ranging from 177,900 yuan to 219,700 yuan. Citroën C6
The Citroën C6 is an executive car produced by the French car maker Citroën since 2005. The Citroën C6 was inspired by the Citroën C6 Lignage concept car with a fastback saloon like styling. Inspired by the Citroën C6 Lignage prototype, which was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of 1999, but differs from the concept car's styling in minor details (like not having rear suicide doors for easy access). The C6 was intended as a replacement for the XM, and Citroën was intent on launching it before the end of 2000. History At the time, it was hoped that the C6 would go into production by the end of 2000, as the replacement for the ageing XM, which was first produced in May 1989. In July 2007, '' Car'' ran a 2.7 litre V6 on its long term fleet and rated it for its "waftability" and comfortable interior but felt it was a car that the driver needed time to adjust to. In isolation, the car’s acceleration was regarded as "effortless" but not up to the stand ...

Hybrid Electric Vehicle
A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is a type of hybrid vehicle that combines a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) system with an electric propulsion system ( hybrid vehicle drivetrain). The presence of the electric powertrain is intended to achieve either better fuel economy than a conventional vehicle or better performance. There is a variety of HEV types and the degree to which each function as an electric vehicle (EV) also varies. The most common form of HEV is the hybrid electric car, although hybrid electric trucks (pickups and tractors), buses, boats and aircraft also exist. Modern HEVs make use of efficiency-improving technologies such as regenerative brakes which convert the vehicle's kinetic energy to electric energy, which is stored in a battery or supercapacitor. Some varieties of HEV use an internal combustion engine to turn an electrical generator, which either recharges the vehicle's batteries or directly powers its electric drive motors; this combinatio ...
