Neal Martin (ice Hockey)
Neal Martin (born September 8, 1975 in Sudbury, Ontario) is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenceman Career Martin began his Major Junior career with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, having been selected in the 5th round, 79th overall, in the 1992 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Martin played sparingly in his first season with the Greyhounds, logging only 17 regular season games. The team had an extended run in the play-offs, before losing the finals to the Peterborough Petes. Nevertheless, they qualified as hosts for the 1993 Memorial Cup, which they subsequently won. He began the 1993-94 with the Greyhounds, before being traded midway through the season to home-town team Sudbury Wolves. Martin found more ice time in Sudbury, and as a result his scoring increased. During the 1994-95 season, he registered 36 points in 62 games, whilst the following season saw him register 49 points in 51 games. Dan Tessier
Dan Tessier (born January 3, 1979) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre who last played for the Nottingham Panthers of the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). He was featured in the first season of '' Making the Cut: Last Man Standing'', a hockey-based reality show which aired in 2004. Playing career Tessier played major junior in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he served as a team captain for the Ottawa 67's. Establishing his success with faceoffs as a top aspect of his game, he was awarded the OHL Top Faceoff Award in the trophy's inaugural three years through 1998 to 2000, as well as the CHL Top Faceoff Award in 1999. After an 84-point season in 1998–99, Tessier led the 67's to a Memorial Cup championship as the tournament hosts. Edinburgh Capitals
The Edinburgh Capitals are a Scottish ice hockey club, playing in the Scottish National League (SNL). They are based in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh. The team play at the Murrayfield Ice Rink, close to Murrayfield Rugby stadium. In April 2018, a consortium led by David Hand (brother of ex-Racer Tony) won the contract for ice time at Murrayfield, effectively rendering the Capitals homeless. The newly formed Murrayfield Racers applied to join the EIHL and take the Capitals' place but were rejected, plunging the future of top level ice hockey in the city into jeopardy. The Racers were subsequently accepted into the Scottish National League (SNL) instead, where they remained until 2022. Jonathan Weaver (ice Hockey)
Jonathan Weaver (born 20 January 1977 in Sunderland, England) is a British professional ice hockey defenceman for the Telford Tigers of the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL). Weaver also played for the Great Britain men's national ice hockey team. Playing career Weaver has spent most of his playing career in Britain, the majority of which with the current Newcastle Vipers franchise. He started playing at an early age with the Sunderland Commanches, Arrows, Tomahawks then Chiefs, then moved to the Durham Wasps in 1992 before they were moved to Newcastle in 1996 as the Cobras. He moved to Manchester Storm in 1998 and had a brief spell in North America the following season, playing for Detroit Vipers and Mississippi Sea Wolves in the ECHL. Todd Kelman
Todd Kelman (born January 5, 1975) is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenceman who is currently the Managing Director of the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League. He was an original member of the first Belfast Giants squad that played in the old Ice Hockey Superleague in the 2000–01 season. He won the Superleague title twice, once with the Giants in 2001–02 (a mere one season after the team was founded) and previously with the Bracknell Bees two seasons earlier in 1999–00. He also won the Superleague Playoff Championship and the Elite League with the Giants in 2002–03 and 2005–06 respectively. Ed Courtenay
Edward Emmett Courtenay (born February 2, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger and head coach. Professional career As a youth, Courtenay played in the 1980 and 1981 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Verdun. Following Courtenay's junior hockey career with Laval Titan and Granby Bisons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) he was signed by the Minnesota North Stars as a free agent on 1 October 1989. Minnesota assigned Courtenay to play with Kalamazoo Wings in the International Hockey League (IHL) where he spent his first three professional seasons. Theoren Wallace "Theo" Fleury (born June 29, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, author, and motivational speaker. Fleury played for the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), Tappara of Finland's SM-liiga, and the Belfast Giants of the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League. He was drafted by the Flames in the 8th round, 166th overall, at the 1987 NHL Entry Draft, and played over 1,000 games in the NHL between 1989 and 2003. One of the smallest players of his generation, Fleury played a physical style that often led to altercations. From 2002–2011 the Newcastle Vipers were an ice hockey club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The club was a member of the Elite Ice Hockey League, and the British National League. History Predecessors Previously, the city was represented by the Newcastle Jesters, who were founded in 1999 by Finnish businessman Harry Harkimo who purchased the franchise from the Ice Hockey Superleague. The franchise had previously been owned by John Hall who had owned the club as part of his ambitious "Newcastle Sporting Club" project and known as the Newcastle Cobras and later the Newcastle Riverkings. The Cobras had previously played as the Durham Wasps who had moved to Newcastle upon Tyne Arena following a season at the Crowtree Leisure Centre in Sunderland as a result of Hall purchasing them after a number of years of financial problems. Trevor Koenig
Trevor Koenig (born 10 December 1974) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He last played for the Dundee Stars in the UK Elite Ice Hockey League. Koenig was born in Edmonton, Alberta. Koenig currently coaches the Mighty Bulls' U7 and U17 teams. Ashley Tait (born 9 August 1975) is a British ice hockey forward who is currently player/coach for the Basingstoke Bison of the National Ice Hockey League. During Tait's career he has also played for Coventry Blaze, Nottingham Panthers (EIHL), Kingston Hawks ( BNL), Sheffield Steelers (EIHL), Milton Keynes Lightning (EIHL), Belfast Giants (EIHL) and Ritten Renon (LIHG).
