''EG'' is a magazine which publishes endgame studies and discusses various aspects of the endgame in chess. The letters "EG" signify "End Game" and also the Latin phrase '' exempli gratia''.Roycroft (1972), p. 111 While many chess magazines include sections for endgame studies, ''EG'' is unique for its exclusive focus. History The magazine was founded by The Chess Endgame Study Circle, a British group of chess endgame study composers and enthusiasts, that formed on 16 March 1965. The eleven members included Robert ″Bob″ Wade, Hugh Blandford, and John Roycroft. Roycroft was the magazine's publisher for the first 102 issues, from July 1965 until 1991. Since then the Dutch company Alexander Rueb Vereniging voor Schaakeindspelstudie (ARVES) has been the publisher, but Roycroft stayed as editor-in-chief thereafter. An "eG" or eingetragene Genossenschaft is a "registered cooperative society" under German Law. Unregistered cooperatives are also possible in Germany but practically never used in practice. In 2004 there were 5470 registered cooperative societies. "eG"'s are relatively rare commercial entities in Germany. The fifth-generation Honda Civic is an automobile produced by Honda from 1991 until 1995. It debuted in Japan on September 9, 1991. In solid-state physics, a band gap, also called an energy gap, is an energy range in a solid where no electronic states can exist. In sound and music, an envelope describes how a sound changes over time. It may relate to elements such as amplitude (volume), frequencies (with the use of filters) or pitch. Eg (Kristiansand)
Eg is a neighbourhood in the city of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway. It is the only neighborhood in the borough that is located outside of the downtown city centre of Kristiansand (being about north of the downtown). The main hospital for all of Southern Norway, Sørlandet Hospital Kristiansand, is located on the north side of Eg. Eg is located between the river Otra and the Baneheia park. The name Eg comes from ''Eik'' (meaning "Oak"), because of the thick oakwood which can still be found in the area. Some of the oldest settlements in Kristiansand are in the area of Eg. When the Kristiansand area was only farmland, one of the four largest farms was located at Eg. The others were located at Gimle, Grim, and Kjos. Today, there is an elementary school and a kindergarten located at Eg. The neighbourhood is mostly apartments. Eg is served by bus line 12 from Kjos Haveby to the hospital. Francis Anthony "Eg" White (born 22 November 1966) is a British musician, songwriter and producer. He started his career in the cowpunk band Yip Yip Coyote in the 1980s and then formed Brother Beyond with his brother, David White, in the late 1980s. In 1990, Eg White recorded the pop album '' 24 Years of Hunger'', and then in 1992 he produced the debut, self-titled album by Kinky Machine. He turned to songwriting in 1997, winning the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 2004. In 2008 White worked with Adele on three tracks.
