Eén
Eén (stylized as één; en, "one") is a public Dutch-language TV station in Belgium, owned by the VRT, which also owns Ketnet, Canvas and several radio stations. Although the channel is commercial-free, short sponsorship messages are broadcast in between some programmes. Eén focuses on drama, entertainment, news and current affairs in a similar vein to BBC One in the United Kingdom. The station was formerly known as VRT TV1 until the current Eén branding was launched as part of a major station revamp on 21 January 2005, with a look created by BBC Broadcast. Eén is the equivalent of its French-language counterpart, La Une, the first channel of the Belgian Francophone broadcaster, RTBF. Salamander (TV Series)
''Salamander'' is a Belgian crime drama television series, created by and based upon the novel by Bavo Dhooge, that was first broadcast on Eén on 30 December 2012. The twelve-part series, produced by Skyline Entertainment and written by Ward Hulselmans, stars Filip Peeters as Inspector Paul Gerardi, a Belgian detective who investigates the theft of sixty-six safety deposit boxes belonging to prominent Belgian figures. It was broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC Four from 8 February 2014. Following the success of the first series, a second series was commissioned by Eén but production did not begin until five years later. ''Blokken'' (''Blocks'') is a Belgian quiz show based on the video game ''Tetris''. It is broadcast by één and hosted by Belgian television personality Ben Crabbé. The show is the longest running quiz show on Belgian television, with 22 seasons. On 10 December 2017 the show aired its 5000th episode. Rounds Round 1 Ben asks a series of 8 (originally 10) questions. The first contestant to buzz in with the correct answer picks up 10 points and drops 2 pieces on the game board. When a line on the board is created, it is cleared, and the contestant finishing that line earns a 50-point bonus. Round 2 Each contestant plays separately. The contestant with the most points from the first round temporarily leaves and gets to listen to music. Meanwhile, the other contestant will play the round. VRT NWS Journaal (formerly Het Journaal) is the main news program of the VRT, broadcast daily on the channels één and Canvas. The first edition of ''Het Journaal'' was broadcast on 31 October 1953, the day that Flemish television began. Initially, ''Het Journaal'' was a small operation, with few staff; nowadays, there are dozens of journalists, and many other employees, such as directors, producers and technicians. Broadcasts ''VRT NWS Journaal'' is typically broadcast four times a day on één: 1pm, 6pm, 7pm, and the late news, which usually airs at around 10:45pm. At weekends, an extra bulletin is broadcast at 8pm on Canvas: this airs in place of current affairs programme ''Terzake'' (roughly translated, 'In this respect'). Premiering 4 September 2016 on Eén, the series has been critically and commercially successful, with its first season having an average ratings share of 47%. The VRT (), is the national public-service broadcaster for the Flemish Community of Belgium. History VRT is the successor to a succession of organisations. Canvas (Belgian TV Channel)
Canvas is a Belgian television channel of the Flemish public broadcasting organisation Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT). Specialising in both original and adaptations from western Europe and North America, the channel offers: in-depth news and current affairs, non-mainstream entertainment, documentaries, arthouse films, other cultural programming, and most recently additional children's programming. The channel, launched in December 1997, is part of VRT's second network (VRT 2), which also carries occasional sports programming under the ''Sporza'' branding. The current network director of VRT 2 is Bart De Poot.
