Eyal Zamir
Eyal Zamir ( he, אייל זמיר) is a major general in Israel Defense Forces. He was the Deputy Chief of Staff from December 2018 and was replaced by Herzi Halevi in July 2021. He was the commander of the Southern Command, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister, commander of the 36th Division and commander of the 7th Armored Brigade. On 2nd January 2023, he was appointed director general of the Ministry of Defense by Yoav Gallant. Biography Zamir was born and raised in Eilat on January 26, 1966. He is a graduate of the 17th class of The Military Academy for Command in Tel Aviv. Zamir was drafted into the IDF and was enlisted in the Armored Corps in 1984. 36th Division (Israel)
The 36th Armored Division, also known as the Ga'ash Formation ("Rage"), is the largest regular-service armored division in the Armored Corps of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). It was subordinate to the Northern Regional Command until February 2014. The division was established in September 1954 and until 1958 was led by ''Aluf'' Avraham Yoffe. 500th Brigade
The Israeli Armor Corps 500 Brigade, also known as the Kfir (Young Lion) Formation, was a regular-service tank brigade that existed from 1972 to 2003. It was originally composed of three battalions: the Romach (429), Se'ara (430), and Gur (433) battalions. During the Yom Kippur War, it fought in the battle over the city of Suez under the 162nd Division, and was led by Colonel Aryeh Keren.
