''Extracting the Core'' is Martyr's only live album. It was recorded in Summer 2001 in Rouyn-Noranda, Canada and was released by Skyscraper Music. The album came in a multimedia disk which contained the songs, live photos, and videos. Martyr (band)
Martyr was a Canadian death metal band from Trois-Rivières, Québec. Their musical style consisted of mostly progressive use of melodics and variations of thrash and death metal influences. History Formed in 1994 by brothers Daniel (guitar, vocals) and François Mongrain (bass), along with Pier-Luc Lampron (guitar) and François Richard (drums), Martyr recorded a demo tape in September 1995 titled ''Ostrogoth''. In September 1997, the drummer François Richard left the band being replaced by Patrice Hamelin, the full-length debut ''Hopeless Hopes'' was self-released in November that same year. Martyr independently released their second album, ''Warp Zone'', in 2000. Lampron had left the band and was replaced on the guitar by Martin Carbonneau. Rouyn-Noranda
Rouyn-Noranda ( 2021 population 42,313) is a city on Osisko Lake in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. The city of Rouyn-Noranda is a coextensive with a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec of the same name. Their geographical code is 86. Technical Death Metal
Technical death metal (also referred to as tech-death) is a musical subgenre of death metal that began and developed in the early- to mid-1990s, with particular focus on challenging, demanding instrumental skill and complex songwriting. Technical experimentation in death metal began in the late 1980s and early 1990s by four bands that are often grouped together as "technical death metal's Big Four" – Death, Pestilence, Atheist, and Cynic – as well as Nocturnus; all but Pestilence being part of the Florida death metal scene. Some of the distinct features of this genre include dynamic song structures, complex and atypical rhythmic structures, abundant use of diminished chords and arpeggios, frequent employment of odd time chord progressions, and constant use of string skipping on the guitars. ''Warp Zone'' is Martyr's 2nd full-length album. It was released independently on March 11, 2000. A European edition was released by Sekhmet Records which contained two bonus tracks, several live videos and other multi-media. In October 2006, Galy Records released a re-issue containing four bonus tracks. Matt Heafy of Trivium called it one of his favorite albums and said "This has been a hugely influential album on me, and they’re a band that I feel are way underrated. They’re a band so many people haven’t heard about but this album is truly a gem. Everyone’s putting technical and jazz elements of things like virtuoso guitarist Allan Holdsworth in there, but these guys were doing it before all of them and Martyr don’t do it for the sake of it, they do it for the sake of new sounding songs. Guitar

Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. A death growl, or simply growl, is an extended vocal technique usually employed in extreme styles of music, particularly in death metal and other extreme subgenres of heavy metal music.
