Exter (Weser)
Exter is a long river in Lower Saxony ( district Schaumburg) and North Rhine-Westphalia ( district Lippe), Germany. It flows into the Weser in Rinteln. History The river arises from the eastern part of the district Lippe in the Teutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park. Its origin is in the municipality Barntrup, approximately one kilometre southwest of the northern district Alverdissen's centre, in an area used for agriculture. It gave its name the municipality of Extertal (lit. ''Exter valley'') that was founded newly in 1969. Extertal
Extertal is a municipality in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with c. 11,500 inhabitants (2013). Extertal is located on the northern edge of the circle in the Teutoburg Nature Reserve, directly adjacent to Lower Saxony. The Exter and Humme rivers flow through the region. The municipality has its headquarters in the Bösingfeld district. Neighbouring cities are Rinteln, Aerzen, Barntrup, Dörentrup and Kalletal. The highest point of the city is at 371 metres above sea level. The municipality dimensions are about 12.2 kilometres east-west and about 12.5 kilometres north-south. Teutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park
The Teutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park (german: Naturpark Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge) is a nature park founded in 1965 in the northeast of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. After being expanded in 2008, the nature park is now the largest in Germany, covering an area of . The park comprise the southern Teutoburg Forest and Egge Hills. The Teutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park won the state competition for nature parks, "Naturpark.2009.NRW", with its concept "Natural Health" (''Natürlich Gesund''). Geography The northern part of the nature park begins immediately southeast of Bielefeld and then runs over the southern Teutoburg Forest in a southeasterly direction via Oerlinghausen and Detmold to Horn-Bad Meinberg.
