Expatriate (band)
Expatriate is an Australian indie rock band from Sydney, Australia, formed in 2005. The band comprises vocalist Ben King, drummer Cristo, keyboardist Damian Press and bassist David Molland. Expatriate has released two studio albums and two EPs to date, with the first album charting at No. 38 in the ARIA charts. The New Order ( id, Orde Baru, abbreviated ''Orba'') is the term coined by the second Indonesian President Suharto to characterise his administration as he came to power in Transition to the New Order, 1966 until his Fall of Suharto, resignation in 1998. Suharto used this term to contrast his presidency with that of his predecessor Sukarno (retroactively dubbed the "Old Order," or ''Orde Lama''). Homebake
Homebake was an annual Australian rock festival, featuring an all-Australian lineup (with the occasional artist from New Zealand). The festival was first held on 3 January 1996 at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay, on the far north coast of New South Wales. The same year saw a second event held at the grounds of the University of Sydney. The festival returned in January 1998 as an East Coast event happening in Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Sydney. In December of the same year, it was held again in Sydney this time at the Domain. In late 1999 the event went on the road again, but this time to only the Gold Coast and Sydney. In 2000 the festival reverted to just Sydney, and was held at the Domain every December until 2012. Tickets for the festival regularly sold out in advance, the fastest sell out was the 2006 event which sold out on the first day of sale, but this was then dwarfed with the 2008 show selling all 20,000 tickets in less than 10 minutes. Lovers Le Strange
"Lovers le Strange" is the debut EP from Sydney band Expatriate. The line-up was Ben King, Chris Kollias and Damien Press. Tim Rogers had already left the band by this stage. Artwork The cover photo was taken by Matt O'Brien. The artwork is very closely modelled upon René Magritte's work ''The Lovers''. It is speculated that the EP's title is an inside joke relating to the artwork, possibly suggesting that the piece ''The Lovers'' is strange.
