Astronomy Class
Astronomy Class are an Australian hip-hop / reggae group from Sydney. The group comprises Ozi Batla (Shannon Kennedy), Sir Robbo (Shane Roberts) and Chasm (Chris Hamer-Smith). Kennedy is a member of The Herd, whilst Roberts is a member of Frigid and prog, downtempo and Krautrock band Tooth. Biography The group formed when Kennedy decided to collaborate with producers Roberts and Hamer-Smith in 2006. "The original concept for Chasm and I was to do a production album, with various MCs and singers," Roberts says. "We'd both worked separately with Batla in the past, he was our main MC, so we gave him the beats irst He was really taken with them and expressed a desire to have them all for himself. Australian Hip Hop
Australian hip hop traces its origins to the early 1980s and is largely inspired by hip hop and other urban musical genres from the United States. Elefant Traks
Elefant Traks is a record label based in Sydney, Australia, that predominantly releases Australian hip hop music. The label is distributed in Australia by Inertia Distribution. History 1998–2008: Formation, The Herd, Urthboy, Horrorshow Elefant Traks was started in 1998 by Kenny Sabir ( Traksewt); Under Sabir's management, the label's first official compilation album, ''Cursive Writing'', was released, and Sabir briefly explained the process in 2011: "For the first compilation, some of the people on there I had never actually even met at the time of release. ''Koolism'' is an Australian hip hop duo originating from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The members are lyricist Hau Latukefu (born Langomi-e-Hau Latukefu, 1976, Queanbeyan, Australia) and producer/DJ/musician Danielsan Ichiban (born Daniel Elleson, 1975, Auckland, New Zealand). History ''Koolism'' started out in 1992 when Elleson (aka DJ Rampage) joined a group by the name Tribe Ledda L (L for Latukefu), which comprised Hau and his cousins Hounga and Sione. Tim Levinson, better known by the stage name Urthboy, is an Australian hip hop MC and producer from New South Wales. The Herd is an Australian hip hop group formed in Sydney. The group employs a "full band" format and is recognised for its live shows.
