Evo Music Rooms was a music competition and showcase in the United Kingdom that featured established and up and coming artists. The competition was sponsored by Fiat, and aired in 2010 on Channel 4. The show was hosted by Edith Bowman. History Evo Music Rooms was hosted by Edith Bowman, and aired on Channel 4 in 2010. The competition sought to showcase the best unsigned bands and solo musicians in the UK. Three winners were chosen from over 2000 applicants. The competition winners included Viktoria Modesta, Alejandro Toledo (musician) and the Magic Tombolinos, I Am Austin (Welsh two piece dance/rockers) and Shadez the Misfit. The television series aired in 7 episodes on Channel 4. Edith Bowman
Edith Eleanor Smith (born January 1974) is a Scottish radio DJ and television presenter. She hosted '' Colin and Edith'', weekday afternoons, weekend breakfast, and ''The Radio 1 Review'' on BBC Radio 1 until 2014 and has presented a variety of music-related television shows and music festivals. Early life Bowman was brought up in Anstruther, Fife, Scotland. She attended secondary school at Waid Academy in Anstruther and then continued her studies in Media and Communication at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Viktorija Moskaļova (russian: Виктория Москалёва, Viktoriya Moskalyova; born 25 February 1987), better known as Viktoria Modesta, is a Latvian-born British singer-songwriter, performance artist, creative director, and model. Modesta's leg was injured during her birth. She had it voluntarily amputated in 2007. She was signed to IMG Models as a model, and as a musician she is also known as a "Bionic Pop Artist". Alejandro Toledo (musician)
Alejandro Toledo is a composer, saxophonist, and ethnomusicologist. Born in Argentina, he is now based in the United Kingdom. He has received various awards including the Evo Music Rooms award for one of the best upcoming artists in the UK. He has also been featured on various TV shows including ''The Rob Brydon Show''. Career Toledo is a classically-trained saxophonist. In 2010, he was selected by Channel 4's ''Evo Music Rooms'' as one of the UK's best unsigned artists, and he went on to perform with Faithless and Audio Bullys on a televised programme hosted by Edith Bowman. Doves (band)
Doves are an English indie rock band formed in Manchester. The band is composed of twin brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals), and Jimi Goodwin (bass, vocals, guitar). Additionally, the band employs Martin Rebelski, as a touring and session musician on keyboards. The band released four studio albums between 2000 and 2009, two of which reached #1 on the UK album charts. A compilation album, '' The Places Between: The Best of Doves'', was released in April 2010. Doves went on hiatus in 2010. During this time Goodwin released his first solo album, ''Odludek'' (2014), while the Williams brothers regrouped as Black Rivers. The Specials
The Specials, also known as The Special AKA, are an English Two-tone (music genre), 2 tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. After some early changes, the first stable lineup of the group consisted of Terry Hall (singer), Terry Hall and Neville Staple on vocals, Lynval Golding and Roddy Radiation on guitars, Horace Panter on bass, Jerry Dammers on keyboards, John Bradbury (drummer), John Bradbury on drums, and Dick Cuthell and Rico Rodriguez (musician), Rico Rodriguez on horn. Graham Coxon
Graham Leslie Coxon (born 12 March 1969) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and painter who came to prominence as a founding member of the rock band Blur. As the group's lead guitarist and secondary vocalist, Coxon is featured on all eight of Blur's studio albums (although 2003's ''Think Tank'' only features his playing on one track, due to his temporary departure from the band during recording sessions for the album). He has also led a solo career since 1998, which all of his solo albums were produced and all the instruments played by himself. Faithless are an English band that formed in 1995, with its core members being Rollo, Sister Bliss and Maxi Jazz.
