"Every Song is a Cry for Love" was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, written and performed by Brian Kennedy in English. Brian Kennedy (singer)
Brian Edward Patrick Kennedy (born 12 October 1966) is a Northern Irish singer. He scored a number of hit singles and albums in the UK and Ireland during the 1990s and 2000s. He represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and finished in 10th place. Brian is the younger brother of the late musician Bap Kennedy. Career Kennedy made his debut in 1988 as a chorus on the recordings of Van Morrison, a Northern Irish singer-songwriter. Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Why Angels Cry" written by Peter Yiannakis. The song was performed by Annet Artani. The Cypriot broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) organised the national final ''A Song for Europe'' in order to select the Cypriot entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. Ireland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "They Can't Stop the Spring" written by John Waters and Tommy Moran. The song was performed by the band Dervish, which was internally selected in November 2006 by the Irish broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) to represent the nation at the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. Dervish is an Irish traditional music group from County Sligo, Ireland which has been described by BBC Radio 3 as "an icon of Irish music". They were formed in 1989 by Liam Kelly, Shane Mitchell, Martin McGinley, Brian McDonagh, and Michael Holmes and have been fronted by singer Cathy Jordan since 1991. Una Theresa Imogene Healy (born 10 October 1981) is an Irish singer. She rose to fame in 2008 as a member of five-piece girl group The Saturdays, who are signed to Fascination and Polydor Records. "Invincible" is the name of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest entry for , sung by Carola Häggkvist. Being one of the favourites to win, it ended up finishing 5th out of 24. Carola performed the song in the Swedish national final in the Swedish language, under the name "Evighet" ("Eternity"). It scored 2nd place by the judges, but was a runaway winner by public votes, therefore booking Carola a place in Athens, where Eurovision was to be held. In the singles chart, the Swedish-language version peaked at #1 in Sweden and #8 in Norway, and the English-language version peaked at #29 in Sweden. Severina Vučković (born 21 April 1972), better known mononymously as Severina, is a Croatian singer-songwriter and actress.
