Eurowheel is a tall Ferris wheel at the Mirabilandia amusement park near Ravenna, in Emilia–Romagna, Italy. It is known for its views over Ravenna and nearby beaches, and its 50,000 light bulbs are said to make it the brightest Ferris wheel in the world. When constructed in 1999, Eurowheel was the tallest extant Ferris wheel in Europe, superseding the Moscow-850. Both the Great Wheel, built for the Empire of India Exhibition at Earls Court, London, in 1895, and the Grande Roue de Paris, built for the Exposition Universelle of 1900 in Paris, were taller, however the London wheel was demolished in 1907 and the Paris wheel in 1920. Mirabilandia (Italy)
Mirabilandia is a 210-acre theme park, located in Savio, Italy, a frazione of Ravenna, which is located in Emilia-Romagna. With a total area of 850,000 square metres, it is the biggest park in Italy. It has an area of 55 hectares, with an additional waterpark area of 12 hectares, called Mirabeach. The most notable attractions are the Katun inverted roller coaster and the iSpeed launched coaster. Moscow-850 (russian: Колесо имени 850-летия Москвы) was a Ferris wheel in the amusement park "Moscow-850" on the territory of VDNKh (''Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy''), built for the 850th anniversary of Moscow. It was dismantled in 2016 and was replaced in 2022 by Sun of Moscow. Moscow-850 had a diameter of and an overall height of , made a full turn in 7 minutes, was equipped with 40 cabins, accommodating 8 people each. At the time of its construction, Moscow-850 was the tallest extant Ferris wheel in Europe, but in 1999 it was surpassed by the 90-metre Eurowheel at Mirabilandia, Italy. Moscow-850 was the tallest Ferris wheel in Russia until an 80-metre wheel opened in Lazarevskoye, near Sochi, in 2012. Grande Roue De Paris
The Grande Roue de Paris was a tall Ferris wheel built in 1900 for the Exposition Universelle world exhibition at Paris. Financing the "Grande Roue de Paris" happened by the creation of the "Paris Gigantic Wheel and Varieties Company" and selling the shares of this company. It was the tallest wheel in the world at the time of its opening. Théodore Vienne, the industrialist and founder of the Paris–Roubaix cycle race, was both owner and director of the Grande Roue de Paris. It was disassembled between 1920 and 1922 and rag-and-bone merchants used the pods as huts to carry on their trade. This evolved, through second-hand shops, into the antique trade that is now to be found on the site and known as the Swiss Village.
