European Parliament Subcommittee On Security And Defence
The Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) is a subcommittee of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament. It is responsible for European security and defence policy, including institutions, capabilities and operations, as well as developing relations with strategic partners and third countries. During the Ninth European Parliament (2019–2024), the committee has 30 members and is chaired by Nathalie Loiseau from France. A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. Usually, the assembly sends matters into a committee as a way to explore them more fully than would be possible if the assembly itself were considering them. Committees may have different functions and their types of work differ depending on the type of the organization and its needs. A member of a legislature may be delegated a committee assignment, which gives them the right to serve on a certain committee. The Democratic Coalition ( hu, Demokratikus Koalíció, DK) is a social-liberal political party in Hungary led by former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány. Alviina Alametsä (born 29 September 1992) is a Finnish politician of the Green League who has been serving Member of the European Parliament since 2020. Before entering European politics, Alametsä has been a city councillor of Helsinki and chairs its equality committee.
